So I joined in 1.4 and was smashed and crushed over and over until I generated a decent number of skill points, today I decided to work on an alt that had been shelved basically since he got out of the academy.
First three matched in a row were all proto stomps, and snipers with officer weapons, in militia/starter fits you really could die by a strong sneeze. Getting over 500 damage from a Thales when your combined eHP is 285, is ridiculous.
Anyone tried to do this on an alt recently? I think Scotty is drunk. |

Of course not he's a fooking lush, but at least on Slag with 10x the SP of this noob let I can at least somewhat justify the proto brutality I receive, and its not a stomp even then (most of the time).
Is it worse than pre-1.5? |

Yeah made an alt the other day to try some lol with the plasna cannon, only took 2 matches to get out of academy then it was proto stomp next 5 matches, Scotty lay off the booze man. |

i'm at 16 million sp and i still get protostomped.
it happens to everyone who doesn't have an elite squad, and i run solo 95% of the time so...

I thought we had matchmaking, as in matching players of similar player records or SP levels, but I guess it's more of a bucket approach. |

Does anyone else see the MM system degrading?
Meaning, when 'Scotty' was introduced the matches (when 'he' allowed them to actually connect) were much better, even matches for a couple of weeks and then things just went south.
Or, was it just me?

The problem is that Matchmaking relies on player count per server to put you in a match with decent ping. So as an example to illustrate all points this kind of thing results:
The game has a player count averaging what... 4000 at peak time? While everything is on the same single shard server, the infrastructure still requires multiple servers for each region. Therefore let's say you're on and everyone that plays on your server is hypothetically in a match it would throw you in an empty game close to your level (I think they use max SP) that could be on a different server. Unfortunately as time passes the range of SP the match you could get dropped into would increase resulting in these insanely stupid lopsided matches.
OR
the same thing would simply happen on your own server.
Either way the MM is foiled not entirely by CCP's error as many would have you believe but also by the low player count and even lower new player intake. Unfortunately what is seemingly a fault of CCP is where the matchmaking would pull in squads of high tier players against a bunch of unorganised randoms for no reason other than to make them not want to play the game anymore.
