The problem with rooftop FG is not that they have good range, damage, or splash, it's that we can't GET THEM DOWN with anything but an ob ( and before some dumb **** says it: killing the FGer and getting them down are two completely different things)
I'm hoping the artillery cannon is a counter for this, unless it works like a railgun which I really hope is not the case, and allows us a solid counter for this tactic.

True but you have to be tactical about these situations, maybe get a fast dropship and crush em, besides it slows them down when charging.
Assassination is my thing.

As someone who has been Forge Gunning for over a year I can honestly say that the splash radius (and perhaps along with the splash damage) should be cut back. The reason tower forge gunning is as easy as it is, is not only due to the limited ways to successfully engage such a person without expending resources but because the terrain mesh does not get in the way of the shot, making it much more able to apply splash damage.
This is my opinion. So take it as you want. |

If we had a slow firing (I'm talking [5.00 ROF] turret that hit with 1500 splash and 2000 direct in an 10m radius that could be adjusted to hit any horizontal surface without a roof, then forgers would not be a problem.

It's not a nerf to people that are used to forge sniping. Now it actually requires skills that some FotM jumper never gained over time.
I tried to put a level into Amarr Commando once, but got a server notification saying "Why?"

It's really easy to clear in pubs but usually roof forgers will have a logi on lookout so they know right away when dropships are inbound

But that shake is purely cosmetic from what I've been able to tell.
Making the shake actually affect the aiming would fix a lot of the problems with forge sniping right? You'd still be able to hit vehicles but hitting far away infantry would require skill and luck.
Just my suggestion but as I said I haven't spent a lot of time with forge guns. |

Splash still the worst part of Dust and proof its a below average shooter. Aim is king in shooters and you're rewarding people for missing when you have the ridiculous amounts of excess splash u see with this game (see the flaylock for evidence)
Will continue to say handheld weapons should have 1m of splash and it should do 30% of direct damage. Grenades and missile turrets should have aoe damage..not forge guns. |

Damage and range changes are coming. Watch the vehicle thread. The DEVs stated that there will be changes and when decided they will be posted in the vehicle change posts. 1.6 is not the change. A splash change was announced quite a while ago.
Swarms got a range change to balance them against the weaker vehicles that need areas of safety for the hit and run nature of the new modules and hulls. With forges as they are, which is game breakingly overpowered, the new vehicles would be unusable. Expect big change to the unbalanced FG we have now.

There is no such thing as luck, only outcomes of varied possibilities in any situation. We can for the most part decide that outcome. No not a quote either.

As an fyi, since it's obvious you don't have any real experience forging. Prior to Uprising, forge guns were very inaccurate. If you shot someone standing still at about 40ft in front you while standing, you probably had a 10% chance of hitting him. The only way to get a hit at anything was to crouch. This limited the forger's field of firing due to the many low walls that blocked his view while crouched. Forgers had no fighting chance whatsoever in a mid range fight and CCP saw this. So they made the forge gun accurate in shooting while standing.
So yes, your "nerf" already existed and was removed. |
