I wonder if all the starting suits will still feature the Assault/Plasma rifle or the relevant racial equivalent. The new rifles are all quite simple but still a little bit different from a standard fps rifle... what do you think?

Caldari starting fittings featuring the rail rifles - charge time is the only thing weird, the small clip will make it hard for CQC so it sounds more like a specialist's weapon, not something everyone would feel comfortable starting with.

Amarr starting fittings featuring the scrambler rifles - this would be by far the most different rifle with charge and overheat mechanics. Again, this may be too much for newberries.

Combat and assault/plasma would problaby be fine though. I think they should keep the gallente AR as the standard for new suits, what do you think?

Don't get me wrong, I like Plasma Rifle...but Blaster Rifle...that's got a ring to it...a Mad Max kind of ring...

It is a blaster rifle, not a plasma rifle. Just because it fires plasma does not make it a plasma rifle. The rail rifle also likely fires plasma, should we call that a plasma rifle as well? No.

'The weapon commonly referred to as a 'Railgun' does not utilize rails within the barrel of the gun that the charge slides on - mounting lugs are not visible on images of the charges. However, they are more likely to be what we call Coilguns (also known as Gauss guns), which operate by accelerating a magnetically-charged projectile with electromagnets.

As a Railgun does not have to traverse a heavy large-caliber barrel or generate a beam of high-energy light, it can be made smaller and lighter (and thus use much less powergrid than Artillery Cannons or Tachyon Beams).

Conversely, a Blaster first processes the Hybrid charge and turns it into a ball of plasma, held together by a strong electromagnetic containment field. This ball is then accelerated out of the weapon by the same method as a Railgun, but the containment field quickly dissipates once the ball leaves the barrel of the gun. This greatly affects effective range.

Please change the name of the Assault Rifle to the Plasma Rifle... As of 1.7 we will technically have 4 assault rifles, so it would be confusing to have three given their functional name and one given the name of 'assault rifle'.

I know it's a small change, but it would make that little difference to organise the items in the game a bit more...

Please change it to 'plasma rifle'. It would make much more sense -

then we would have:
Plasma Rifle
Combat Rifle
Scrambler Rifle
Rail Rifle

instead of:
Assault Rifle
Combat Rifle
Scrambler Rifle
Rail Rifle


which looks weird.

other names could apply such as blaster rifle, ion rifle, etc... people seem to think that they don't 'fire plasma' which they blatantly do.
