Hey,
CCP wants to sell consumable AUR stuff, so let's discuss what we want in consumable AUR stuff and what we don't want.
For the longest time I only used AUR-items so I could try creating fittings for suits and vehicles I hadn't yet skilled into. Lately I started actually using a few consumable AUR items and now I'd like to share some impressions.
My favorite AUR fitting is an "HMG Mauler". It consists of the prefitted 'Mauler' Heavy Frame suit and a 'Golem' Heavy Machine Gun, plus some shield extenders and a repper or a plate. I choose the 'Mauler' as a basis because it uniquely has 2 high slots and 1 low slot. This costs a few AUR more than using the 'Neo' Sentinel but also gives a good advantage in survivability.
I have no skills in heavy suits or heavy weapons whatsoever and this gives me the opportunity to mix up the game once in a while. The suit seems to fare reasonably well against advanced medium suits, and that's all I can expect from it, I think.
Can you recommend any consumable AUR items or fittings that provide a good bang-per-buck ratio?
Some closing comments: Almost all AUR suits are useless to me. The standard level suits are not competitive and the advanced suits require the specialized suit operation skill at lvl 1. That means I have to permanently invest ~300k SP to try a competitive AUR suit. I'm unlikely to invest this much if I'm unsure whether I'm going to stick with it. Also, if I have the first level of the specialized suit operation skill this requires that I also have lvl 3 in the basic suit. Considering that I don't have any special suit skills the basic one is just as good, so why would I want to spend AUR on a suit I could just buy with ISK, which I have plenty of?
I'd be much more inclined to actually consume AUR if there were consumable AUR basic dropsuits (light/medium/heavy frame suits). Also, there need to be temporary skill-spikes that allow the user to attain level-3 at suit, weapon and module operation skills for a limited time. I feel I would be spending a lot AUR on them if they were reasonably priced.
To the guys with the blue tags: Is there anything else CCP would like us to discuss so you can gauge player interest better? |
