Not really. The only thing special about this game is customized dropsuit/vehicle loadouts and the EVE skill system. Other than that there is nothing present another shooter doesn't do better. Call of Duty, Battlefield, Borderlands, Counter Strike, Halo, Far Cry, and Bioshock all are superior in every way except for the two factors listed above. Hell, Half Life 2 is a better shooter and its what 10 years old almost?

I must admit that it's odd that I could do better in this game than I could in COD but, I do even better in BF3. I also lost faith after CCP couldn't make a working matchmaking that would bring my friends back.

Meh, COD is still better as a shooter.

That moment you get out a riot shield and provide protection for the guy carrying the flag and then you place it on your back to deflect bullets hitting you in the back. Then your teammate jumps on the friendly flag, getting the game winning point just as your entire squad gets overwhelmed by a pack of attack dogs.

That is the type of moment that makes you want to turn around and punch your own face!

I rarely have epic moments like this in Dust :/

sure battlefield, cod and who knows what else are better shooters, but none of them have ever got me this invested in a game, the sp and fitting system along with the fact that you work for your gear ties your sense of what is yours into the game, makes it hard to give up. its a very clever piece of game design.

This game is quite badass.

Exempt the ridiculous matcha I get.

If I'm in a good mood, I can just laugh it up, but sometimes I rip my hair out.

Other then that, and a few balance issues, I've never had many issues with DUST.

None of these "game-breaking bugs" that I hear about.

But I'm a Med frame assault scrub, so therefore my opinion on how fun DUST is invalid.

But damn does it got me hooked.

Probably for life.

EDIT: after some thought, I have a proper sum of this game,

Ccp set out to build a sports car, but instead they started with a tractor.....eventually they will get were we hope this game is going but only time will tell when it will become enjoyable for a large part of the gaming community.

If the sports car thing sounds familiar, perhaps you have heard of Lamborghini

I do not know why I still play this game, is it the people I have become friends with? Is it the constant urge of wanting to get to that next level of skill? Or is it simply just the fact that this game doesn't solely depend on one person slaying the entire enemy team? Perhaps it's the vehicles (as broken as they may be), I still enjoy flying my incubus and making jokes at the people who become prey to my missile launcher.

Or maybe, it's because I see what this game can become. We want this game to reach its potential, but sometimes it doesn't seem even remotely possible. We know what this game can do, we want to play this game to its full potential. Ccp is just a little slow on carrying out our wishes, they have experience, yes, but not with a console FPS.....let alone a mmo FPS.

We will wait until ccp transforms this tractor into a sports car. They are almost done fixing the engine, now they need to work on the body.

I had some time on my hands and it's almost bed time so I decided to out some thought into it.....sadly I still only get an 84 in English class :/

If you don't want to have a discussion about whether this game is good or not don't post it on a forum and whine about conflicting opinions.

Post it on your life journal or something.

Otherwise deal with it.

Lip service doesn't help anyone.

It certainly won't fix the situation the game is in.

Honest hard truths and options to fix it help.

If you want to pat the devs on the back because you think they've done a good job send them a care basket or something.

Demanding that people not highlight the obvious problems with the game because you're afraid of hurting CCP's feelings will get us and this game no where.

In fact it's probably far more harmful to the game then pointing out it's flaws and asking them to be fixed.

I don't see why you would play game continuously because it's free.
If you bought a game would you still be playing it for so long?

Pointing out flaws and giving wasys to correct them as I have is more constructive to this game than this thread just wanting to pat CCP on the back for a bad job.

Let me give you some life advice,

Reward good decisions. Give feedback and direction on bad decisions. Don't reward bad decisions or else people will keep making them.

Ccp knows this game is not 100% done and we do too! they are working on it so let them work in peace.
