Actually at EVE Vegas they said they are very close to releasing the remaining racial dropsuits (either 1.7 or 1.8), and part of the vehicle changes is making the skills generalist (one tank skill to unlock all tanks). In my opinion, the only reason they did the latter was because they want to give a respec to us, but only want to give us one and know there'd be an uproar if we had to wait for the remaining racial vehicles which aren't as close to releasing.
Fairly certain we will see a respec pretty soon. |

I really don't see how it'd be a bad idea. I'm pretty sure everyone would be happy. I want a respec but this argument is sort of invalid because the very nature of this game means it should never be "finished". They will keep on adding stuff. Where does it end? When the Amarr MTAC comes out in 2016 but the rest don't until late 2017, does that mean another respec? Every time content is added are we supposed to allow a respec? Keep in mind I am in favor of respecs. Just curious as to everyone's opinion on this. It's really not that hard to figure out. Give a respec when all the racial variety of current gear is out, that is step 1. Step 2 is don't release anything new until all racial variants are completed. Quite frankly they shouldn't release an Amarr MTAC without releasing the other three at the same time, as in your example. But even so, vehicle skills are becoming non-race specific so that solves that problem.
Respec for new stuff? No Respec for stuff that is a racial variety of current gear and should of been in the game from the beginning? Yes |

Fairly certain we will see a respec pretty soon. Yes thats correct, but as long as we dont have a timeframe it could be in 1.8 or 2.1 both could be accurat. We just have to wait and see. Just because I like enlightening people on this matter, version naming system are not decimals.
For example, the following is not always correct, 1.8, 1.9, 2.0, 2.1
Instead, the following could happen, 1.8, 1.9, 1.10, 1.11
Basically the dots separate degrees of magnitude. The first number get updated with a major overhaul like it's almost a new product, the second number represents significant updates, a third number if present (e.g. v1.12.2) represents minor changes, and a fourth number is not really used conventionally.
If the devs considered the update past 1.7 to be major enough, it could be 1.7, 2.0, 2.1, 2.2 For example.
Hope that makes sense and informs at least one person Dust 514 itself will likely not get a v2.0 simply because for example the new update coming out is actually Dust 514: Uprising v1.6. When CCP gets to a point where they believe major changes have occurred, they will likely give it a new name, so Dust 514: [New Name] v1.0 |

It does sound fair that when the game is actually at Launch status, they give respecs so people can go to the faction they originally wanted to go to, but didnt have a suit for it yet. I mean its gotta suck for a heavy to need to spec into heavy for a second time to get the suit they now want. I would just spec back into amarr suits & Scramblers, because my 12 eve characters all being Amarr doesnt say enough that i am an amarr loyalist yet :p But i will defo try out the new Rail rifle aswell, but seeing its full auto its gonna be horrible to play with. (i suck with full auto guns) It's really got to suck for a Gallentean who wants to be a heavy, since they have 0 representation in that department at all.
Amarr: Heavy dropsuit Minmatar: Heavy HMG Caldari: Heavy Forge Gun Gallente: Nothing |

I really don't see how it'd be a bad idea. I'm pretty sure everyone would be happy. Only partial respecs for equivalent gear. AR respecs for the racial rifles, light frame respecs for racial scouts etc etc. Beyond that OMFGNORESPECSEVAR!!!!!1111 Situation: Totally Revamped Vehicle Skill Tree Why a full respec? Because it creates new SP sinks, and had you known about these SP sinks you may not of spent as many points in infantry.
Situation: Racial dropsuits Why a full respec? Because the different suits have different slot layouts and CPU/PG values as well as bonuses that are geared more towards different playstyles. All of these factors directly impact the skills you would of invested in and are not necessarily the same between say a Gallente Scout and a Caldari Scout.
If they release the new dropsuits with the new vehicles and rifles in 1.7, then that could be the final respec ever and we wouldn't need any more. |
