Hey, I love your videos!
I'm going to start making logistics based videos tomorrow. This really gave me the encouragement and motivation that I've needed to start this...as I honestly thought it might be way more expensive and complicated than I thought.
A quick question though...how much does the microphone setup that you have really improve your audio compared to a laptop microphone, my bluetooth headset that I have, or just audio editing?
I only ask because I don't exactly have a ton of money to put into this...but still want to be able to make some interesting videos before I start upgrading stuff. |

Actually good question, i use a component mic (this is a simple USB one but component none the less) the ones you get on laptops and such are terrible and best avoided.
What i found worked well was a decent USB ps3 headset that works on the PS3 as well as the PC - so when you done playing on the ps3, unplug and plug them into the USB drive on your pc and generally they arnt too bad.
I use Turtle Beach headset which gives good quality but eventully did switch over to a more expensive mic but even then i still have to do adaptive noise reduction on all voice overs i do.
Hope that makes sense. |

Nah you just need a capture card or box, i use the Hauppauge HDPVR - so its that box thing
Connect it via USB to the PC and then install the software you get with the box. When you press button, the computer records the footage inc what comms you setup as per the vid in the OP.
Then just use Windows Movie Maker to edit it down into like 10 min slots then upload it all to youtube
Thats how i started and it just grows from there as you learn and grow more confident.
Message me if you need any help. |

Thank you for taking the time to write this up! I found this b/c I just bought the same capture box and wanted to see what others were song to get the best results out of it. Looks like there's not much to it, but wondering if you found any tricks that weren't shown, to improve the passthrough quality? I'm just noticing the pass through pic is annoyingly fuzzy compared to the straight HDMI output from the PS3, and only thing I could think to verify was just to ensure the PS3 component output was properly set to include 720p / etc. I'm assuming it's normal and livable, but can't imagine wanting to play like that all the time. |
