For example, my character is caldari, but I run a minni scout, I still get the +5% bonus to melee and knives per level. |

No you still get the bonus as long as you are in the races suit. You don't have to be amarr to get the amarr race bonus and you don't have to be caldari to get their racial bonus. You just have to be wearing their suits (Basic suits don't count only specialized suits get the bonus (Assault suit, Logi, Sentinel and so on)

Yeah that was really weirdly worded by Noc. Even though your race is Amarr, if you spec into Caldari assault suits then you will get the bonus so long as you wear the Caldari assault suit. Though I don't know why you would want to, Amarr suits are the best. |

^ This, Noc. The racial reference is for the suit only. Traditionally, in EVE/DUST, your race choice is practically meaningless by itself and doesn't affect almost any game mechanic at all. None I can remember. It's there more for social and roleplay reasons, like, look at PIE.. |

Birth race only affects how your character looks, due to the fact we all wear masks it means nothing outside of RP. |

its a SUIT racial bonus
not a RACE racial bonus
race is pure rp.. no game mechanis influence whatsoever
spec into the suit, get that suits bonus when wearing it... period |

If you view it more as the manufacturers intent rather than a bonus by faction, the suit is designed with specific functions in mind. If one knows how to operate the suit they gain the bonuses. Skill increases ones ability to optimize the function of the suit. |
