Yes, there are bugs and glitches. Yes, there are imbalances. No, there are no hacks. Hacking the game means hacking the server which means CCP's security team will shut down the server and then there is jail time for the perps if they get caught. |

Lag switching doesn't work properly in DUST due to nature of the server. Unlike lag switching in games like halo. |

@glubba
Do you know how a lag switch works exactly? As in step-by-step. Did you know that to lag switch you need control of the server (as in be it's host) which only CCP has? The tranquillity server, unlike the ones you see in halo, is one massive server that runs Eve Online and has the capability of deciding which information it receives as valid or invalid. It also validates data based on when and where it last saw you and what you were doing at that time. It then compares that to what your console tells it. If your console data is inconsistent with what the server has on you, then the server will reject your console data.
If there is intentional lag then it can only be through other means besides lag switching. People have reported seeing simple tricks like spamming equipment on the field or something as complex as cleverly using the different regions of that server and other things.
If you want to see real lag switching, go to halo or call of duty. I was recently playing all day over at halo on matchmaking and there was lag up the ass. I mean serious lag like you never seen before. It was ridiculous. The server kept switching hosts for at least five times per match. There was also constant rubber banding. Suddenly DUST feels like a mild case in comparison.
If lag switching is ever used then it becomes detrimental to the users. |
