For all the adults playing DUST 514 with the stock PS3 controllers... You must have some of the smallest hands in existence! The reason I use the KBM is because the controllers are designed for little kids' hands! If CCP were to market adult sized controllers, then I would purchase and use one. But until then, I use KBM because I have larger hands.
Second, using a controller means only being able to press two button simultaneously at any given time. Really it does! Try pressing 3 different buttons at the same time on a controller... They all stop working! Whereas on a KBM you can press 3 or more keys at the same time and they still work and do what you want it to do!
I have to say that after the AA fix I'm getting owned in the "fast-draw" areas where I used to win. AA does seem to make the controllers way better than KBM. But more importantly, AA now screws with my KBM controls (occasionally causes my aim to go to random places), when it didn't before. Seriously, just have ONE setting in the options that switches between KBM and controller and also toggles the AA and the tooltips all at the same time. Not like 3 separate things in 3 places.
Please, please please God oh God PLEASE! Let the KBM be remapped! Right now you have "throw grenade" right next to "Push To Talk" on the KBM and both are in a spot that is freakishly difficult to use while playing. This causes me to "throw grenade" when I try to talk to teammates. I go to tell a squadmate to lookout behind him and instead throw a grenade at him? This is stupid!
The sensitivity keeps changing when zoomed in on things. I don't know what you did, but it's become more (not less) difficult to maintain a bead on a target. It's almost to the point of trying to "guess" when to fire to hit a target and no skill is involved anymore. Fix this please.
CCP this thread (while not yet at thread-naught proportions) is also one of the longest threads on here. That is for a reason. KBM controls need some attention please.

I'm fairly happy with it, and I haven't had a chance to try the 1.7 controls with my old mouse yet -- but from what I'm reading there's still work to be done with it.
Yeah I got fed up with the damned broken KBM controls for this game. Hell, it took players screaming at the devs over 2 years ago at EVE Vegas to get ANY kinda KBM support in the way of a sheet with all the controls listed on it back during beta. And it wasn't until then that the devs realized that the "tooltips" were coded for controllers only and always said press "X" to activate inertial dampeners... Well the letter x on the keyboard doesn't do that! When the dev was told this it was like watching a light-bulb turn on behind his eyes.
Seriously, gotta at least let the KBM users remap the darned keys. Throwing grenades when trying to PTT is aweful.
Oh, and fix the verisimilitude of the game CCP!

Because seprate servers isn't really CCP's thing, but then again I didn't think nerfing kb/m was CCP's thing....
It's NEVER coming to PC. I dunno why people can't seem to understand that aspect of this game. To do so would majorly cut into their flagship game EVE Online and then both would die.
EVE = PC DUST = console Valkyrie = oculus rift

Or of course, if you still care to be contentious feel free to link me to some form of media definitely stating that there will never be a PC version ?

Crysis used a similar selection system for the suit abilities, and I could chain them easily even while navigating through the environment. I think you just need more practice. Hit the middle mouse button, it selected the one next to it. 2 or 3 tries I can get it. Last build it was spot on. Maybe it is just me, but it feels harder.
Ok, since it was brought up here, I would like to make a challenge to all the devs that play this game.
YOU HEAR ME DEVS, THIS CHALLENGE IS FOR YOU!!!
1 - Create a logistics dropsuit that has at least 2+ equipment slots, but the more the better. 2 - Fill every equipment slot with something different. 3 - Enter a game. 4 - Ready equipment item #1. 5 - Ready equipment item #2. 6 - Repeat steps 4 and 5 over and over as fast as you can while running A STRAIGHT LINE at the same time!
Can't do it can you!
This is one of the most frustrating things about this stupid f*cking rotary menu interface bullsh*t that you guys keep fausting upon your players! Stop the abuse of Human to Machine Interface Design!
Seriously! you already have a button to swap between weapons in the interface, so why duplicate that sh*t on the rotary menu? So if you REMOVE the heavy, light, and sidearm weapons from the rotary menu, then you free up all that space! Similarly for the grenades carried. No need to have them on there as you have a button specifically allocated for them already! So all that's left to go onto the rotary EQUIPMENT menu is the EQUIPMENT! Since the most equipment someone might carry is like four items, this is easily put onto the menu as each item is at one full quarter of the rotary EQUIPMENT menu! So first item at 12 o'clock, second at 3 o'clock, third at 6 o'clock, and fourth at 9 o'clock.
DUN! Seriously freaking easy fix to an interface nightmare that has plagued this game since beta!
I hope someone out there in dev land really reads this. 8(

And after that KBM took over. Get over the "chromosome" and move forward.
Why can't you ppl just pick up the dam controller that the game came with in the fist place?
No so you go and buy some extra gear to get a advantage over others then you cry like a child that they are as good as you with that out of the box controller. ( Or I state competitive ) Al that money spent and no god mode, that can't be right can it?
No STFU and pick up the controller.
Controllers are FOTM. When I look at the history of controllers, the NES, the SNES, the Sega Genesis, the DreamCast, the N64, the PS1, the PS2, the PS3, the Xbox Original, Xbox 360, Xbox One......as times change so does the controller. The Keyboard/mouse has stayed intact for decades. I was playing Quake with my KBM while you were still a resident for your fathers loins. I am able to operate at a higher level than you. Not only do I dont need an Aim Assist, but I am able to coordinate my arms, writs and fingers in synchronization and harmony. You can operate both your thumbs. Congratulations. Thats like comparing the effort it takes to drive a go kart versus an F1 racer. The thing is, Dust are the ones that took it upon themselves to offer KBM support. We didnt just come here with controllers and impose ourselves. We were invited. All we ask for is fair treatment. We are being deliberately held back and our controls are sluggish on purpose so that people like you can go around with your Aim Assist and feel like you are worth something. So if you want equality, how about instead you demand that Aim Assist be removed? Cause if you are going to have the PS3 do the aiming for you, the least we could get is the right to be fully incharge of our own aiming. You know only the Nintendo systems tend to have a drastic redesign on their controllers between systems right I mean lets look at the PS controllers since thats the system we are on and youll see that for 20 YEARS (caps for emphasis) the controller has undergone very little change with the biggest being the addition of the analog sticks in the PS1 era Also funny that you mention Quake since I remember Quake on the Dreamcast, that game offered raw input for the KBM you know and guess what happened, KBM ran rampant over controllers since mechanically for this genre its just inherently superior Oh and the coordination comments you make are great, I mean lets take aiming with a mouse right, you get to use your entire arm to aim while the controller people get to use a little thumb stick with dead zones on it not to mention the face and shoulder buttons with the design of the controller meaning there are 8 buttons and two sticks I need to manipulate with just two fingers, two of my less dexterous ones in fact meaning I end up having to more button presses without getting to dedicate a digit to a single key for ease of use Anyway if you didnt want to read all that which I suspect you wont so you can just scream some more that your power fantasy is crumbling around you because you died in a video game Ill just suggest that you seek some professional help for what is obviously an inferiority complex on your part and maybe a bit of a persecution complex as well Sincerely a gamer with more than 2 decades on experience on both consoles and PC's who doesnt have his head up his ass and will readily admit the truth concerning advantages and disadvantages between control schemes
You both are forgetting the biggest argument of them all...
What if I had a physical disability in my hands that prevented me from using my thumbs as needed to take full advantage of the DS3 controller design? So I'm forced to play on KBM only. Now what? I should suffer because I'm disabled? CCP promised me a game that would provide KBM capability. Ok, so it's sucks ass right now, but they did fulfill their promise. But if they don't fix it, it is just another example of them coming up with a good idea and never finishing it like they do with so many things in all their games.
On the other hand, let's say that I'm not physically handicapped, but I am an ADULT with ADULT sized hands. This means that the controllers (no matter which design you've mentioned above) are ALL made for CHILDREN'S HANDS! So they've built in a physical handicap for anyone who is fully grown. This is stupid on the game console designer's part but the solution is to allow for KBM. But then as before, they only implemented it and didn't fully implement it.
In the end, CCP just needs to finish supporting the options that they said they would. If they would just fix this one thing finally, then they could take it off their plate and concentrate more on the rest of the broken sh*t in this game.
