So someone in the University made an offer (only for Dust University players) for an EVE-Dust exchange, available both ways. His suggestion was a 10 EVEISK - 1 DustISK, but the specific exchange rate is not the purpose of my post. The purpose is that there is someone out there opening up a bank in the game.
I am loving this idea and wondering if there is any market for a 1st Interstellar Bank in the game. Due to the very high demand to get your EVE currency into Dust Currency and if the rate is 10-1, Dust Currency into EVE.
This is just another beautiful example of the innovative player base with these game mechanics coming about. I also hope that CCP recognizes this if it becomes a more imminent banker industry. But damn this is good stuff.

I saw some guy running around with a 'Bank of NewEden' tag yesterday.
But I dont know if it was just a joke, or if he was actually thinking of opening up a bank. |

Didn't know who that was, but the idea is fascinating, and if you actually had a non-junior-high-student run it and recognize the worries and concerns of it, that is just freaking incredible.
I would imagine you would have to be a *massive* grinder in the game for the ISK (in both EVE and Dust) for the start up costs. And the transactions would have to be carefully regulated. Like a max 50 mil exchange for the 5 mil dust at a time. Not to suggest that it would be a one time use, but as in they give you 50 mil EVEISK, you give them 5 mil Dust ISK, then they give you another 50 mil EVEISK, and etc. Now this is getting me interesting in it. |

Really depends on the mechanics CCP implements involving ISK exchange between games. If it really needs a player-run enterprise for large-scale transactions then maybe... if not, I'd rather keep my ISK where I can see it. |

EvE had a bank once, I doubt anyone will take a bank in new eden seriously again
skip to number one if you just want the bank article, otherwise if you got the time it's a really good read. [here be history] |

I've long been thinking that if the Eve/Dust banking goes live with a 1:1 ISK exchange, I'll be playing out a 21 Day Free Trial of Eve the second it is announced. |

I really like this idea! Like REALLY!!
Heck I think I might even hop on board and help run the thing (in a lesser job of course like teller or something).
I say you start now to practice and get some knowledge of how to run it. just start off with 5 or 10 account holders and maybe run excel to help manage an accounts.
you could even insure certain fit or vehicles up to a certain amount.
Too whom ever is running this thing hope you follow through and tell us when your hireing.

I am willing to go forth with this myself. I think it can get off, but I will make an alt. account and alt corp for it.
If I did, I would be entirely willing to take in contacts and people to help out, but I would be very shaky with having people actually handle the money. I have plenty of reserves in both sectors of the economy, but obviously I would need to find a few early investors to balance the accounts, naturally, I would compensate them for the opposite account and would consider a dividend. But maybe that is getting ahead of myself.
Knight, I am aware of the comical history of the EVE bank, but that is something that will simply have to deal with as a reputational regulation on the enterprise. This is also an ideal exchange bank atm, not an investment bank or the like. Maybe later would try to buy up different markets like the Aurum or the PLEX market, but for all practical purposes of why this 'bank' would exist, is that it would be to satiate the demand for getting EVE money in Dust and at an exchange rate that would equally make Dusters want to get their Dust money in EVE. |

Sorry Kain Spero already does this at that ratio... but TBH the ratio should be around 100 EVE ISK to 1 DUST ISK |

Kain Spero? Where does he conduct this business?
The ratio should be set by what would be demanded based on the yielded profit. I would consider 100 EVEISK for 1 DustISK but that is comparing *liquid* assets entirely between the 2 domains. There is no demand to get all of your EVE ISK into Dust to create an equal amount of ISK.
The main demand would be from Dust Corporations trying to get their EVE ISK into Dust because they have to fund themselves and PC incursions. The other demand is from newer Dust players wanting the ISK boost from their EVE account, and the final demand is the Proto-Stompers wanting to get the money for their expensive pubstomping tastes.
In terms of the the Dust side going to EVE, I would have to make it an incredibly favorable Dust exchange so they want to give me their Dust ISK for EVE, so I would have to make Pub-match grind in Dust worth more than lv. 4 mission grind in EVE in the exchange rate from them, in short, make Dust worth more in grinding than EVE grinding.
I would simply be the middle man that in reality, organized the transfer of all these players, just at different variables of time
and of course making a cozy profit from it too from the service fee :)

No no no no. absolutely no bank! don't fall for this. this happened in eve maybe 7 years ago. the CEO made a bank (pretty sure it was called the bank of new Eden, what a coincidence) and for 2 years he ran it. everyone put money into it, and then he took it all and left. he stole soooo much money. i think the bank was called bank of new Eden, so its like hes trying to repeat history. But yeah, don't fall for this, your money is safest with you. in new Eden, never give your money to some one else. |

I'm not trying to KEEP my ISK anywhere other than my pocket, but if a bank affiliated with Dust University was to be started and it offered ISK transfers, I would partake, paying any necessary fees of course. I've seen transfers advertised before, but from people I don't know. A bank endorsed and run by Dust University would be trustworthy enough for me to use regularly, and I would probably want to pay an extra bit of ISK per month to be assigned a Personal Banker from said bank.

As has been previously stated I do run a currency exchange. If folks are looking to move money from Eve to Dust just drop me a mail at my Eve side "Kane Spero".
Banks have been set up in the past in New Eden they just never really end well. I've even been asked about setting up banking services. While the idea sounds good in theory I think the New Eden environment is just much better for transaction and escrow-based financial services.

RIght now rolling at around a 10 to 1 from Eve to Dust. Depending on demand from each direction the rates can change, so the best thing is to drop me a mail Eve-side when you want to execute a transaction.

To be brutally honest the Corp and Alliance you are affiliated with make me uneasy, and the CPM tag does nothing to ease my concerns. Nothing personal of course. |

Just to be clear: it's 1 bil from EVE to 100 mil in DUST, not the other way around. He has different rates from DUST to EVE. (I believe it was close to 1 DUST to 5-7 EVE last I checked.)
The man has to turn a profit somehow. I think it's still fair rates.
