I have a question about the skills pertaining to the weapons in Dust 514
Once the pool of weapons are up. Are you going to categorize them like you have in EvE? So instead of an assault rifle and rail rifle having two base skills and proficiences, they will be under "Hybrid weapons" and then have their own proficiences.
Or for another example Combat rifle and the Minmatar sniper being under "Projectile weapons" and having Combat Rifle proficiency and the sniper proficiency.
Or are you going to keep them as is? |

I suspect they'll stay as is. There aren't that many weapon types in EVE anyway, just different sizes of the same eight. |

Maybe so, but for Dust there looks like there may be more on the table, we have explosives for instance, and the PLC and Mass driver.. |

It doesn't make sense to group handheld weapons like that though. Using a shotgun is nothing like using a sniper rifle, so their skills should remain separate. |

I don't know about you, but I prefer actual skill trees instead of linear sinks. They could easily divide all the weapons down to their damage type and branch off from that.
Hybrid: (Plasma) AR, Shotgun, Ion Pistol, Plasma Cannon TBA Heavy weapon, TBA Melee Weapon, Fusion Grenade
Hybrid: (Rail) Rail Rifle, Sniper RIfle, Magsec SMG, Bolt Pistol, Forge Gun, Swarm Launcer, Nova Knives, Flux Grenade
Laser: SCR, Laser RIfle, SCR Pistol, Laser Canon, TBA Melee Weapon, Miasma Grenade
Kinetic/Explosive: Combat Rifle, Mass Driver, Precision Rifle, SMG, Flaylock Pistol, HMG, Remote/Proximity Explosives, Locus Grenade, AV Grenade
Make 4 skill trees that branch off into the different weapon types that get easier to skill into the further in the tree you get. When we get faction weapon, you simply add make their requirements part of the initial tree and add more as you go. A, B, C- easy. You could probably do the same with dropsuits, but it would probably have to do with removing basic suits, which wouldn't be a bad idea. |

Yes it might be interesting - depends how "grindy" they wanted each weapon tree to be. |
