Just read Alldin's thread. Third like it I've seen in a week or so. Why in such close succession? Anyone else find this pattern strange? |

I find it strange that people think a few random events always constitutes a pattern or have the same underlying cause - sometimes 5#!7 just happens. |

Vyzion Eyri's conspiracy theory. (hell yeah it rhymes)
PS3s designed to 'malfunction' upon an executive order (88) by the highest of the highest, basking in the profits being reaped by Sony (90% of which is the grossly overpriced AUR purchased by DUST 514's Oceanic community) without a care for the gaming community, to encourage purchase of the PS4, the new console which probably has another sly design 'fault' which will cause them to also eventually fail to work come the arrival of the PS5, which I daresay will be called PSV because it sounds cooler.
Well played, Sony. But one problem... YOU'RE LEAVING DUST IN THE DUST! Traitorous, yellow-bellied, lily-livered treasonous bastards.

Or, you know, these could be old systems that are showing their age. I had to send my old 60g in due to a wholely unrelated YLOD. That was about 1-2 years ago, though. Would I get a newer PS3, hell no! I want the PS3 they promised way back and I got it, getting a newer one would be a trade down. |

Well, since I've put DUST 514 on my PS3, it started to bog it down. Others have mentioned this too. I've had DUST 514 delete off my system for the last 2 days, and already notice a difference.
And no, I don't have my hard drive full. In fact, the only thing on it was DUST 514 and Final Fantasy VIII (Playstation 1 game) |

yup. Dust is about the only thing that FULLY (ab)uses the CPUs. It makes the variable-fan go to maximum speed on my older PS3. All. The. Time. That means it's running hot. heat = death, for electronics.
So to anyone who lives in one of the hotter areas of the world; if you dont have AC in your house, and it gets hotter than 80 degrees F in there... I suggest you take a break from DUST until your house cools off. If you want your PS3 to live.
The newer, "slim" PS3s probably handle heat a bit better than the old ones, so be extra careful with the older ones. |
