These are a few simple suggestions/implimentations that I would like to see in the marketplace that reflect real life markets. I also added in several options I would like to see in game for good measure.
1. Bulk purchases: It is ridiculous that a single gun has the same trade value as 100 guns of the same make and model. To transport one item should be full price, while if you buy 100 of the same item at the same time, you should get a bulk discount rate of 10-20% off. This would reflect more of a real market, it would make it more valuable to players to stock up on items rather then constant single purchases to replace items and would hopefully cut down on lag because people would be making less constant purchase orders.
2. The ability to buy more then 100 units at a time: If I know I am going to be using militia items constantly for an entire day on a variety of suits, I should be able to make orders that are larger then 100, 300-500 would be a more reasonable limit for the amount we should be able to buy at one time, again this would hopefully reduce the number of purchase orders and data being pushed through.
3. Shoping for Dust on the Dust website: If we can activate items through the website, we should be able to access and purchase items we want for use by using the website as well, even if it by code based. This would allow for players to purchase items and transfer them easily between characters without having to go through a middle man or add much code to the game.
4. Geting Daily login bonus by going to the forums or Dust Website: If I am providing data and providing opinnion and checking up on the game, should I not get the daily login bonus even though I did not enter the game? Sometimes I just want to check on the news of Dust, to see what is happening, to comment and to provide insight.
5. All characters get passive xp: Come on this should have already been done, all you are preventing by not having this is me having fun on the same account, I can create potentially infinite accounts to place 1 character on them to lvl them up.
6. Push to talk, becomes toggle to talk: At times I do not want people to hear what is going on at my end, which is why I have push to talk on, however, push to talk does not always work as intended, and having toggle to talk would mean I can choose to have it on or off rather then constantly holding a button which intereferes with my gameplay.
7. Bookmark favorite items: I would like to be able to bookmark pages in the marketplace to flip instantly to when I choose to rather then having to go through several pages to get there.
These are the things I can think up off the top of my head, if you like these ideas please like the initial post, if you feel something should be added or changed please post your oppinion and I will try to work it into the OP if possible. If you do not want an idea taken in this way please state so. I look forward to what everyone thinks and hope to get some of these into the game if enough people agree. |

Alright, but the discount in bulk should not be enough to change buying habits from say militia to proto or even advanced to proto, the idea behind it is that you are ordering say 100 units of a product from a company. You have much more buying power and leverage then if you are buying just 1 unit. Examples of this in real life are, free shiping on Amazon when you order enough items to get over 30 bucks. Even local grocery stores use this, such as if you buy 5 or 10 of 1 item, they give you a discount, this is buying in bulk. Similar to if you buy a single soda can, it will cost you for a 1 dollar roughly, if you buy them in the 12 pack will cost you roughly 5 dollars (the not on sale price, usually they got for 3-4 dollars). By this example we can easily see the power of buying even in small bulk amounts, compared to buying items in the single amounts. If you want to get further down in the weeds, you can buy a 3 litter of soda for a dollar at times as well, which is in bulk but in a plastic version.
With people playing in proto that is going to happen anyways, due to the fact that a lot of them play in PC where they can make literally millions of ISK for playing 1 match. Saving a few thousand isk to them isn't going to matter at all, who it will matter to are the players that are trying to get into PC and those starting on the game or those who have isk problems. |

I think it really should matter to anyone. If a corp has a single district there can be one to 3 matches (if the attacker moves in enough clones) on that one district in a day plus however many battles they buy clonepacks for. Now if the PC player loses too many suits he has a larger cost, one not easily replaced by running Pubs in between PC matches. The whole bulk buy idea isn't about what people would like, but rather the ability to lower the cost buy trading their guns/suits/equipment to the rest of New Eden. This would provide competition which can both drive prices up and drop the prices as well. The cost of the suits being set by CCP is the issue not the fact that there are a lot of people that can use them, and would during any pub match in addition to their PC matches. Saying that saving a few isk wouldn't matter is not a well thought out statement, (1000 isk * 200 suits=200,000 isk) as we can see it wouldn't take long for the reduction in cost to show the reward of buying in bulk. Unfortunately this is not how New Eden's markets are setup. I expect you will never get this portion of your request (discounts) until we are able to set prices ourselves.
I know that not all of the ideas will be implimented, I'm hoping just to get enough people to look at them and consider them, possibly add what they would like to see. Bulk buying though I think could happen before the player market emerges as a way of making the market less static before hand, because while they talk about the marketplace becoming player driven, I have yet to hear any real news about it.
What I currently know they are focussing on are vehicles, new guns, Aim Assist, Maps, rendering distance, new suit types, for the next 2-3 patches so I do not think a player market would even be open till sometime next year. I'm trying to suggest things that should be fast to impliment or easier to do that would make the game more interesting. |

Eve also includes PvE content which we do not have, many different markets in which to buy and sell, battles that can go into the hundreads of ships or more, actual meaning to nullsec, and many other things that Dust simply does not have currently. Maybe it's time that Dust has things EVE does not, considering you don't have one of your ships die every 1-5 minutes you can often times keep a ship alive for weeks if not months or more. Try keeping alive and actively playing for 2 weeks in Dust without dying more then 5 times. In short Dust begs to have a bulk sale market, where as Eve really doesn't, when based solely on how many ships will die compared to clones (not factoring everything that Eve has to offer....just to much to mention) |

Once Dust fully integrates with Eve Online's economy, almost everything in the market will have its price dictated by the players only. If I don't want to give you a discount for my 30+ Gastun Forge Guns because I don't like you, then too bad. Deal with it. The only way you will get any discounts in the New Eden economy is when you personally know a friend who directly sells what you need. If not, you can try a different tactic... negotiate. If you can't negotiate, too bad. Deal with it. That's a fact of life in New Eden... which you just stepped into. Just because you want a discount it doesn't mean everyone here has to give you one. Players in Eve Online have full reign on the prices and so shall we as Dust players. By the way, we'll have PvE content eventually as well. Those missions will likely involve fighting endless hordes of Rogue Drones that are the size of an HAV. Welcome to New Eden. The harshest universe the MMO industry has ever seen.
If you disagree with the bulk discount, that's fine, but there are 8 other ideas up there, and all I see you doing is back seat driving and saying what can't be done and what will come out "soon", choose one to comment on and expand upon it or make up your own idea, and I understand that "eventually" this will integrate with Eve, but for now Eve and Dust are two exclusive games and will continue to be so for probably another year at least. The faction war changes might help, but till they basically add another half or 2/3 of the game the day that Eve and Dust have anything really in common are very far apart.
If you completely disagree and can find no common ground with me on any topic or make a suggestion of your own, please go comment else where. |
