Hello all. This post is a collection of thoughts since my last post; Dust, day 2. I have had my ups and downs since then and I'm hoping for a bright future in dust514 (common ccp :P).
What have I accomplished in 80 days? I'm more of the weekend warrior type of player. I have accumulated 3,412,000 SP to this day, passively and actively. because I hate proto-gear for the low rate of return, I have purchased the following skills: Amarr advanced assault dropsuits. Amarr basic logi suits. all light weapons (excluding plasma cannon & shotgun) to level 3. no profiency skills, i see no need for the tiny buffs you get... (feel free to tell me, among other blueberries why we need these, i'm honestly missing something, here) advanced armor plating. (still using the militia repair module though) basic shield extenders. basic triage unit skills. advanced remote explosives. vehicle command lvl 3. caldari HAV 1. (someone PLEASE tell me WHY would anyone be stupid enough to pay boatloads of extra ISK for an enforcer tank.... NOTHING in the info tabs is upgraded compared to the basic...) Vehicle shields LVL 1 (going for level 3 This weekend) vehicle shield hardeners LVL 1 (this one missed a decimal on the ISK cost for the skill, in my opinion.) As far as in game skills, i have learned to take down tanks single handedly, I can now snipe relatively well, and am going for my ONLY level 5 skill I am going to use; scrambler rifle V. I have spent NO money on aurum, and only plan to do so if there is a respec ( that includes all the ISK lost from buying the books) that is bought with aurum.
what I see in the future: I want to have a great tank (one with TONS of shield boosters, extenders, and a hardener) an excellent mad-bomber fit (with an advanced logi, o'course) a full triage setup (maype a proto nanite injector, advanced triage, and triage nanohive [does that cost aurum? haven't looked into it]) a frontline with mai proto-scrambler <3 and an advanced sniper layout.
Then, simply, I will quit dust and move on to the next thing that catches my eye, after all, I cannot stay forever.

Question, is that Amarr assault the racial or the basic frame?
Also You reallise the proficiency bonus adds on to its self right? That means at lvl 3 you are only 1% shy of a built in complex damage mod on versions of that weapon. At level 4 you are already doing more damage with a std. weapon than a non-proficiency complex version of that weapon. For high damage per shot weapons(alpha-damage) like the scrambler rifle, this is really valuable. |

Your plan of attack is going to take a long loooong time. I would suggest picking one role to start with and taking it at least nearly all the way, I.E. just a logi, or just a tanker, or just an assault ect ect. If you feel like you will move on once you have done everything the game has to offer, settle in, you are going to be here for a long loooong time.
About all the passive stuff, yea, it's pretty important. Like, really important. Proto doesn't make the clone, Core Skills (Dropsuit Upgrades) and passives make the clone. Proto is an investment you need to protect due to its costs. All those little percents add up. For example (i'm away from my PS3 atm so forgive any mistakes here) I got my Shield Upgrades, Armor Upgrades, Shield Extenders, and Armor Plates all up to 5 not long ago. That's a grand total of-
25% bonus to Dropsuit base shields
25% bonus to Dropsuit base armor
10% bonus to amount provided by Shield Extenders
10% bonus to amount provided by armor plates
One of those on its own may not seem like a big deal (it helps though) but taken all together that is a huge boost to survivability. A full Proto clone with no passives will drop like Michael Jackson on benzodiazepine when fighting a full Proto clone with even SOME passives. |

with a scrambler rifle, isn't waiting a few seconds an option?
In all seriousness, I'm still missing why somebody would pay ~750K Sp to max profiency on ONE weapon. I have 3.M sp and i'm hapily sitting between the blueberries and the dust bunnies as far as skill goes. I may want a respec, but i still won't use my skills on profiency skills. also: I use the amarrian - adv. racial suit - adv. assault suit - adv. logi suit i realise my character is gallente, however, that was a mistake I made. |

It depends on how much you use the weapon. If you use a weapon almost exclusively it's well worth spending some SP on at least to get the first few levels, which are cheap. As time goes on you may end up at a point where either you start speccing into something else entirely or you max out the last few bits of your current specialisation. I took scrambler rifle proficiency to 5 for these two reasons - I had little else to spend the SP on, and I use the weapon very frequently. |

they include -madbomber featuring EXO-5 MD (L) -medic featuring another EXO-5 (L) -the camo sniper (and by camo i mean i'm buried in nanohives) (L)
-I call the next one "Tequila" militia AR 1 basic remote explosive 1 advanced AV remote explosive 1 nanohive 2 militia grenades 2 kenetic catalyzers
this suit is by far my favorite! strategy: 1) **** people/tanks off with the militia AR (get them to think you're a blue berry) 2) QUICK get around the corner! 3) B00M! 4) repeat this works 99.9% of the time, however, 4 Advanced explosives sometimes just **** the tank off (but that's 4 x1500 dmg = 6000 total damage, so at least it's on it's last limbs). where did i get the name from? well... let's just say It stings.
that's all my logis my 2 assault suits utilize |

I don't have any advice to give, at least none that hasn't been given. I do have a quesion though. How do you feel about the abilities your current setup provides, and what about it would you like to see improved.
I'm working on the core dropsuit skills because it helps every suit and more armour and shields helps me to run away when I might have otherwise died. After that I'll get back on taking assualt rifle pro to 5 because it still seems like mine is loaded with spit wads. |

I personally use my scr to melt the shields off of any tough nuts in medium-close range fights then switch to my SMG. and to the proficiency bonus is HUGE, at level 5 that is 15% more damage with all weapons of that type. Lets say you have the average 3 comple damage mods equiped and that adds to about 23% more damage, then add 15%... thats 38% more damage per shot, you will kill your target 38% faster then someone without any damage mods. that is worth the 1.1m to max proficiency and the 610k cost to max handheld weaponry upgrades(consiering it covers every weapon in the game forever). |
