Seriously, there has been so many times that I've run out of ammo only to literally have to wait for my armor to regen before I can start getting ammo...and then a player finds me and keeps knocking parts of my armor off...only for the nanohive to keep healing me and not giving me any ammo whatsoever, eventually leading to my death because of no sidearm (I'm a logi)
It would be nice if it gave you ammo and healing at the same time, but I'd honestly rather it just make it so that it only heals once you have 50%+ ammo
Reasons:
1. It takes much less time to get to max ammo than it does to get max armor (especially heavies) 2. They're nanohives...nanohives give ammo primarily, so why is the repair function primary? 3. It's possible to still do things with max ammo but no armor. It's very hard to do much at all with max armor and no ammo.

A repping hive is absolutely critical to any fit that prioritizes fitting plates over reppers (or cannot fit a rep at all), and is used primarily because it reps armor, and then resupplies ammo.
This is the EXACT playstyle I use (4 plates + allotek nanohive (R))
But when I run out of ammo, my nanohive decides that instead of giving me ammo, it wants to wait until I'm all healed up before I go back into combat. So I wait. And wait. And then an enemy spots me and starts running at me. If that players starts eating into my armor, that means even LONGER before I can start receiving ammo, which is just plain stupid.
These nanohives need to at least prioritize ammo when you are completely out of it. Even if they just give you one cluster of ammo, that could mean life or death in the situation I just described.
If you were in a situation where you already had 300/600 armor, but were out of ammo and a guy is rushing up on you, would you rather have the thing give you some ammo to help defend, or just for it to keep repping you?
I mean, why is it not the better option to just have them give you BOTH at the same time? Or at least a couple clusters if you are completely out? |

Templar 514 wrote:Out of curiosity, what dropsuit type do you usually run? If an Assault suit, then I can sort of understand your frustration, but if you're running a logisuit, then why not slap on a spare STD level (or even Militia, if you're feeling cheap) nanohive for emergency ammo? I'm genuinely curious on this.
Be curious no longer. As a logi, my equipment is either
Uplink, scanner, nanohive (R) or Injector, scanner, nanohive (R) or (Proto) Uplink, Injector, Scanner, Nanohive (R) or (Proto) Nanohive, Injector, Scanner, Triage Nanohive (no ammo)
Since the recent overlooked nerf to repair tools, and buff to scanners, I have been using scanners much more often (almost on every suit) because I can no combine my repair tool with my nanohive when in groups of allies.
Honestly, I HAVE tried to use one nanohive and one nanohive (R), but then I feel too much like an assault suit and I have one equipment slot left to either use an injector or a scanner, in which my solution was just to drop two nanohives (R) in order to speed up the process of repair in an emergency situation. This way I can still use multiple equipment.
For my protosuit with two nanohives, one gives only ammo, one gives only repair. This is good, but means that I have to sacrifice a lot of cpu/pg, and can only use this setup on prototype suits. It's just not viable on an advanced suit as it gives me hardly any fitting space, limits my options, and costs a lot of isk that I can't protect with lots of armor and shield modules. |

I'm all for augmenting choices, not replacing them!
This is a very interesting idea. |

Good stuff though guys. To be honest, the nanohives need some attention. I'd like to see ammo, ammo/repair, and repair hives better balanced across the tiers.
Or just a rework on equipment in general. |

Cosgar wrote:Seriously, who the hell uses Ishukone flux nanohives?
These things need a serious buff.
The reason why CCP hasn't looked into them is because nanohive spammers buy them, so they skew the market for what isn't used a lot.
Although I do wonder what CCP thinks about sleek locus grenades. |

I dont think I have facepalmd so much since watching ancient aliens.
There is one "Triage" nanohive, and it only gives armor reps. The rest are nanohives that have the functionality of repairing armor as an addition.
Have you ever used triage nanohives? I clearly state the problem as to why prioritizing repair is bad.
Did you read my post? I offered several solutions that would make these nanohives more effective, without removing their overall functionality.
Look, I just don't want to be stuck in situations anymore where I'm out of ammo and out of health, but I have to sit there waiting for my health to rep back up before I can start shooing back at my opponent. Having more armor doesn't mean anything if you can't fight back. Make sense?
I should be the one facepalming right now. |
