So I hear the assault rifle will be short range, Minmatar combat rifle short/mid, scrambler mid/long and Caldari rail long. Shame about all the sp I put into AR but I doubt a respec'll ever happen so I'll be speccing into the combat or scrambler rifle.

I'm betting on a respec.
I specced into scrambler rifle, and I have no regrets. I think I'll want to try the rail rifle; a breach AR with long range and doesn't suck sounds interesting. |

The safest bet is to make the range on the other ARs longer than the Plasma AR, not to shorten the current AR. |

AR's will still have a purpose in this game regardless of how it's changed, but at least it only takes about a week or two to get lv.5 on a new weapon operation.
I'm pretty sure that we will all get a respec at some point (though I'll still keep my build) |

Sorry but the nova knife damage you proposed is too much. The damage output in the current setup is just fine as it is. The few things that need fixing are hit detection and the ability to sprint with a charge. Besides, making the standard knives too powerful will just cause people to demand a nerf and I don't want to see that. |

A shotgun should kill anyone in 2-3 shots if every pellet hits, which would mean they are at point blank range. That's how shotguns work, very high alpha damage at close range. |

Only drawback is ammo capacity which can be fixed by upgrading that. |
