Mr-Tickles wrote:Yesterday, My Corp mate had his name of six months taken away from him as it was deemed offensive. his name was "September11 2000 fun" a name he took from the American prime time TV series Family Guy. If this name was SO offensive to people, then why has the American FCC allowing it to be continually aired on prime time television?. This came as a shock, but we know of the culprit who submitted the report on him. The culprit was a self described vehicle veteran and while the man did have some mad skills he was a bit of an ******* to the squad barking out orders and such and taking all the fun out of the match. Subsequently he was kicked from the squad. I might add that he found our squad through the squad finder and "September11 2000 fun" was the squad leader. He even stated that he joined our squad because he liked his name. After having his inflated ego bruised, he then submitted a request to have his name removed deeming it offensive, and CCP complied. This power of censorship was given to this whiny player by CCP. It could be you that is next. Like this post if you agree this player went too far. and was given too much power. when all he had to do is block my friend.
"If you don't like it, don't read it" - Larry Flint. I seriously doubt the GÇ£Fox GadenGÇ¥ will be the next to fall prey to the sensors.
The name GÇ£September11 2000 funGÇ¥ is offensive. The humour of Family Guy relies on the shock value of offensive stuff to surprise the audience and make them laugh. It walks a fine line, because if the material is not shocking enough people wonGÇÖt find it funny, and if the material is too shocking then people wonGÇÖt find it funny.
I would say that if it aired on National Television in the country that the joke pokes at, then that is grounds for appeal. He might want to try putting in a ticket about it, explaining the origin of the name. Maybe they will reconsider.
Although to be quite honest, the name sucks, and I am sure your friend could find a better one if he thought about it. You did much better than your friend did on name choice. |
