Maybe I just oversee something, can you guys cheer me up a little? My major points aren't in the spotlight of CCP, I some how always knew that but I could see anything new and interesting.
Except the little history about Dust there were only future talk (like far in the future) and the assurance that there is no PVE soon and no focus on PS4 for now.
Not sure if I can give Christmas cheer, but despite all the despair and gloom we can get here and there, I've actually felt like things have gradually been getting better and better. The two things I've harped on for a while now have been open market and the "link" (specifically in the ability to board ships or stations). Their focus on making Dust 514 an 'MMO-ier is exactly what I see as the right move. Gameplay is well and good, but the experience is what divides a good shooter in the marketplace of FPS's. They all are extremely similar in many ways, but what distinguishes them is in the ways they tend to empower players in their worlds.
GTA/Fallout/etc - roaming, depth, narrative
Quake/Unreal - simple, classic, competitive
Left4Dead/****-Zombies - Survival, Horror, Co-Op
BF/CoD/Halo - Competitive, Fast-Paced, Polished, Expansive Multiplayer
They all feature FPS mechanics, assists, weapon stats, competitive communities and general FPS necessities, but what is missing is something vicereal; They lack the pain and reward of choices and even more so, real choice with real people.
Dust 514 is not there and probably will struggle to get there for some time. It's a new kid on the block and kind of antisocial, but it's my hope that we can get to a point where we feel the emotional depth of personal victory, united accomplishment, and of course that twisted betrayal. Don't give up on it, just pace with it. Take it a few matches at a time. Over this whole time, it's really just been the people in the universe of Eve that have made the whole thing worth it

Yeah, I mean I'm kind of trying to figure out all the negativity. I mean, so what...it's the most explicit update we've had in some time. Go kill stomp around and enjoy life, eh?  |
