this, this and this again.
if I hit a rail gun turret in crossfire, while I gun down a different guy, it shouldn't be able to 1 hit me from any spot in it's FOV
usually they will attack you without being provoked...

And how would that work with lore?
An advanced civilization can create modules on suits with ID tags that can talk to other suits to tell how much armour they have, their efficiency (which I have no idea what that means), what level of quality their suit is, and what general role it falls under. They can also create modules that can scan the nearby area and tell whether they recognize that ID or not (the minimap hud pulls up green (sqaudies), blue (teamate), and red dots (enemies)). They can even create modules that can pull up such data from vision.
They can put all this advanced gear on militia grade suits, on a suit the size of an average human. They can even do it on militia grade tanks.
And now suddenly they can't do that on a massive machine with a massive turret?
Although to be fair there are a few logical loopholes in the game already Turrets aren't preprogrammed to the side of the planet owner
They aren't preprogrammed when brought down after other turrets have been destroyed
The HUD shows revive icons, yet not repair icons
Each race doesn't have its own weapon types
[*] Fluid moving exoskeletons exist, work and are relatively cheap (militia suits), small turrets work and can be cheap, and AI is advanced enough to tell the difference between friend and foe, yet there are no combat bots despite human work bean expensive |

For those will little knowledge consider this. Any shot received by a turret will trigger a scan of Red targets. If sufficiently Agro they will shoot at whatever they can lock onto. That would include you and your tender butt. If you are less than 50% range they might Agro you on their own, depending on scan. If one is shot at it locks on you, it will stay Agro until 100% range or until you can break its lock (like hiding from it).
As to the lore regarding lack of combat bots: if you had been around a week or so longer you would already know those features are going have some reality when PvE occurs. When that happens is unknown.
We will have full racial suits/weapons someday. Not today and not next week. Small development teams and the current bug list and feature set additions are a higher priority, as they should be. |

If anything, unmanned turrets should be more aggressive in finding targets to shoot. The current state of turret installations aren't very good at defending their positions. |
