Here's my dilemma. The fit I use costs around 29,000 ISK. And I die alot. I make anywhere from 80,000 to 150,000 a match. Sadly, this isn't even enough to restock to 10 after a match. I was thinking about downgrading, but if I downgrade I won't be getting many kills or assists before I'm killed. I'm always getting killed by some hotshot proto merc that can go 27-5 and pub matches seem to be saturated with them. Any suggestions on how to not go broke? |

How many passive sp traits have you skilled into: armour, weapon proficiency, etc.
My most common fit is around 15 k and I score in top five most games. I am a logi though, so I get equipment points. Skill into uplinks if you need more points as an assault class.
I have proficiency 4 for my AR, and it helps 1v1 classes that are better than me. |

What type of suit do you run? That makes quite a bit of difference in giving advice.
But overall, cut back on the suit cost. The extra stats between the different tiers is helpful but hardly game changing with the low TTK we have at the moment.
I run a 9k scout fit that uses 2 std breach smgs, a std plate, a std reactive plate, a std stable uplink, and an enhanced sidearm damage mod. Using this fit, I rarely go below 1.0 in K/D and never lose isk. |

I have level three in armor and shielding. I use a STD suit with everything else being ADV.

My normal pup fit is about 6,000 I run. I avg about 200,000 isk a match and die a good bit. I always earn loot. Now if I bring in a good fit that is over 200,000...one death there is a good chance I go negative in earnings.
Get your core up and those adv level suites can hold there own against a proto empty shell. I spent the money and got the "red" bp. Can't think of the name but love that fit. I think it was the 40 dollar package. Three bps in it. Nice buy. |

When you say standard, you mean you have not skilled into an assault or logi suit yet? |

I hope you're not using an advanced weapon on a cheap suit. They will blow your budget. |

Force yourself to learn to die less.
Here is one way I have found to be effective at teaching yourself not to die a lot.
You say you make 80 to 150k isk per match. so your average payout is about 115K isk. At that rate you can lose 3 suits before you lose money. So after you lose three of that fit (and remember, if you get rezzed by a teammate you don't lose the suit) either swap to your free starter fits, or force yourself to just sit and WATCH the rest of the match.
Going to the militia fits will still let you contribute toward your team. This is good for them, but not as good for you in the long run, because...
When I say watch the rest of the game, I mean watch. Not AFK. Not go get something to drink. Not go outside for a smoke break, just sit and WATCH. The point being to punish yourself for being dumb enough to die that many times that fast. If you hate sitting and watching as bad as I do, pretty soon you will find yourself REALLY trying not to get yourself killed foolishly. Over a bit of time, it will radically improve how smart you play.

You should not run.your best fit 100% of the time. You should have cheaper fits on the side that you play pubs with.
It's fun because you can mess around, die a lot, make money and still try all your best to win. It's also good practice. Get good against proto's and Advanced gear opponents, while using low tier gear and you will do so much better when you do decide to pull your best stuff out.
Try sniping and/or being a logi. And actually be a logi, don't just use the suit. |

Whats your build? Suit? Mods and total eHP? What race are you? I'm assuming gallente which means you're mostly armor based. Whats your core skills look like? You mention you have lvl 3 for shield and armor but which one benefits you most as in gives you the most HP for the SP (again, I'm assuming you're armor based).
Standard medium dropsuit is very expensive (6k) compared to STD Assault dropsuit (3k). If you're still new to the game I suggest you stick it out with MLT or the free MLT suits you come with until you can reliably support yourself and stay alive and have some decent mods to work with before upgrading the STD.
As for getting proto stomped, try to find a group to stay with, it doesnt have to be a dedicated group, just some random people you can follow behind and work together. Use the squad finder for a quick groupy. |

I was thinking about going logi, but losing my sidearm doesn't seem worth it. The assault Submachine Gun chews through people quickly. You think I should anyway?

Hate double posting but I recently switched to Caldari and I use both armor plates and shield extenders. EHP tops off at about 600.

Camp. and grab a scanner. Seriously. Let the proto bears deal with pushing and you hold down the fort sweeping scans. If you get scanned. Run away in whatever direction to deem worthy. |
