That's true, but an organized squad of protos is even worse. Anything that helps with the overall balance and improves the experience in any way for lower level players is VERY important for Dust to keep new people interested and keep it going. |

In Eve, lesser players can engage in combat in High sec. without having to worry about the other fleet bringing in a Titan or certain types of high end equipment.
Why not simply follow the same plan for Dust?
Personally, I fail to see any down side to this, but what do you think? Proto Gear alone isn't what causes Pubstomping When a full of squad of good, experienced players enters a game with blueberries, they will murder them every time regardless of gear. And it's intended in Dust that two evenly matched teams can risk as much or as little ISK on the battlefield as they want, depending on how badly they want to win. Better solutions for pubstomping would be: - Sort games by level of SP - Restrict squad size in public matches Or a combination of those 2
Also try to balance squad on one side with squad on another. Having two full squads on one team "matched" against almost total blueberries on the other is not going to end well. When I can look at the roster before the match starts and call it without knowing anything at all about any of the players it seems like we missed something somewhere. |

I cant believe that there's advanced players playing with the new people in public contracts if you are your ******* horrible and deserve to have your account deleted . Because your taking advantage of new players .
Couldn't have put it better myself. |

Everyone can agree that proto gear is not "THE" problem, but running into a skilled player that is also sporting equipment that is far superior to what the new player has access too is way over the top. This is a multi-cause problem, but why is there so much proto usage in pub anyway?
Using proto gear in pub matches is ridiculous. I have over 14 mil sp and haven't skilled much of anything to the proto level. I have on a few weapon classes for the skill perks which gives an advantage all its own as has already been stated. Because of that I mostly run STD level gear. I jump up to ADV when I come across try hard squads that are all decked out in proto swag in pub matches. For a long time I enjoyed killing them to cost them ISK, but it has just gotten old. There are too many PUB matches where that tactic is used and is effective at crushing newbs.
The academy is a good example. I have created several new characters and gone into the academy to see what is there and help new players. There are other skilled players in there, but it is actually MORE FUN for new players because the equipment superiority is removed and players are on a more even playing field. Most of them quit shortly after getting out of the academy.
Beyond the equipment there is still the team matching problems. Queue synching seems to be a big deal and in my opinion is even worse than proto stomping. It takes a lot of effort to try to stack a team like that. Are the newbs really that intimidating? Maybe it's just me, but I have been unimpressed and disappointed by the lack of class of most EVE/Dust veterans. Not all, but an unfortunately large amount. |

Personally, I fail to see any down side to this, but what do you think? I agree to this for pubs but not fw.
That could also give more relevance to FW and create more of a distinction from pub matches. I don't think most players in there understand what the difference is at all. By this suggestion you would have pub matches as the more entry level, FW as the mid range more advanced fighters and squads, and PC for the serious teams and corps. |

Keri Starlight wrote:Once again... Proto Gear is NOT the problem.
Proto Gear can even represent the only chance for an average player with 5-10 millions SP to have a decent counter against full squads of maxed-out characters that don't even need Proto Gear because of the full Skill Bonuses they receive.
Pulling out a "naked" Duvolle can barely help against a GEK with Level 5 Proficiency... same goes for suits and all the rest.
Some of the best players I know and I play with don't use Proto Gear in pub matches. They redline the enemy team in 1 minute because of their amazing skills and organization. Also, their ADV suits are better than my PRO suit, because they have 20-30 millions SP and I'm not even close to those numbers...
Then what would be the problem with removing it from pub matches? |
