And once the objective is hacked the other team will still be notified and have time to counter hack. This adds more flavor to the battles, more dynamic. I also agree with scouts having faster hack speeds.
This could actually create a new piece of equipment. I propose this idea to anyone who has an issue with the scout ninja hack idea, a deployable scanner. Think of it kind of like a Nanohive, just drop it down and it scans in a circular area that can be enlarged as you train into the skill.

beyond that a hack delay would be awesome but I question the role of a scout as a ninja hacker.
should one person be able to hold an objective? IMO: no. should a light barebones suit be the best at hacking? IMO: no. should an infantry support role(logi) be best at hacking? IMO: yes, that or assault. should a light barebones suit be able to pass by enemies undetected? IMO: yes. should a light weight suit be substantially faster than others? IMO: yes. should a ghosted suit be able to deploy uplinks behind enemy lines? IMO yes, yes, yes, this is where I would add a bonus to scouts, at least to me the scout is an infiltrator, a specialist in stealth and insertion, not necessarily hacking. I think what makes the Op's idea work with what you are saying here is their bonus to stealth hack objectives. I understand your argument for hack speed but hacking undetected perfectly fits your description of infiltrator. There are many ways to counter this as mentioned above. A new piece of equipment, players guarding objectives, snipers covering objectives. I love the idea because it can dynamically shift the outcome of a battle and will require much more teamwork then we have now.
And just to clarify, I have 20 million skill points invested into logistics. I just want to see the scouts have an important, game changing role. |
