At the very beginning, a new player goes into a match and has 4 options of suits. Not only are these suits lacking in variety and usefulness. but they keep players from seeing all of the different things you can do in this game.
I made a new character recently and came up with these 7 militia fittings.
Scout - light minmatar suit with a shotgun and sprint mods Sniper - light gallente suit with a sniper, uplink, and scanning/dampening mods Assault - medium caldari suit with a AR, nanohive, and shields Anti-Vehicle - medium amarr suit with swarms, and a nanohive Medic - medium minmatar suit with a SMG, repair tool, and sprint mod Logistics - medium gallente suit with an AR, injector, and armor Sentinel - heavy amarr suit with an AR and armor
This is just an example. I'd honestly rather have an even more diverse group of suits, but this is what I can get away with using only militia stuff. More militia items would be great, and would help a lot. I mean really. New players should be able to use mass drivers, HMGs, lasers, scramblers....instead of just the AR.
The last thing I want to explain is that these suits are not starter fits. It would be nice if they were, but I'd rather have them as suits that you can buy prefitted on the marketplace, and then restock those suits when you run out. New players would understand this more than our current system, and would get to fitting their own suits when they are ready.
Heck, maybe later down the road when/if we get some sort of "cirtificate" system, players can buy suits with STD/ADV modules alongside a guide of what skills you need and how much more sp needed to use them. ________________________
I ended up testing this with my roomate, and he said that he never even knew about the repair tool or uplink. He always thought that the injector was some weird thing that he could never get to work. His favorite part about this was the different styles of suits. He originally went with the minmatar, but found that he liked the gallente medium suit better for the amount of armor it had. The last thing he tried was the light and heavy suits, which he also had no idea about.
After explaining about weapons like the mass driver and HMG, and different vehicles that were available, he asked me why no one ever uses this stuff in the game.
This is the new player perspective, and we need to let new players try out more things instead of just limiting them like we are now. More militia items, prefit suits like this, more options. |

Militia amarr heavy frame. No skills needed.
As for the guy you replied to, I already stated in the OP that I wish I had some more weapons besides the AR because I hate the AR being the only effective light weapon available in militia form.
I'd like to have a militia Mass Driver, Scrambler Rifle, HMG, and Laser Rifle at least. That way I can give the heavy the HMG, one of the suits a mass driver, and the other a scrambler rifle to give the suits more dirversity.

Maybe I should make it more clear in the OP...these are all militia light, medium, or heavy frames. Go look at the marketplace under militia suits and you'll see what I'm talking about. I wish I had a militia logi suit...but at least we have militia medium suits of all 4 races. |
