The four major empires officially are not at war, but fighting still goes on in an endless loop of battles in Placid, Black Rise, Essence, Verge Vendor, and The Citadel between the Caldari and Gallente and Metropolis, Heimatar, Devoid, and The Bleak Lands between the Amarr and Minmatar.
When immortal soldiers first really started battling over these designated planetary districts in large force around May YC115, it looked like a stalemate. No side held any big advantage. It would stay this away until September YC115, when these districts began to get attacked much more frequently. During this time, the Gallente and Minmatar held around 99% of all contested districts. Looking like they were beat, a month later in October YC115 the Amarr and Caldari broke free and surged to claim 100% in all regions, and now holding the enemy at bay with 99% of the territory.
What are you takes on this? Why was there initially a stalemate, why did the Gallente and Minmatar get such a big advantage, and how did that flip?
As for the latter, many will quickly point out that the four empires all began to offer incentives to prestigious soldiers who fought for their cause. However, all of these rewards held approximately the same value of just over 5 million ISK, hardly anything to sell your loyalty for. Still, many immortals don't hold any loyalties, sadly. And then there is also the large scale rallying by the Praetoria (PIE) who enlisted dozens of free lancers and a few mega-corporations to aid the Amarr Empire, but that still does not explain how the Caldari got back.
So what have you? What are your opinions on the whole faction sanctioned warfare that's spread to the ground over the past few months? From the beginning to the end? |

I didn't play in the big battles this time around since I was trying to enjoy some time away from fighting and needed a vacation. Honestly I think a lot of Matari and Gallenteans became very lazy and slacked off hard. When a well organized fleet of soldiers came, they weren't ready because they were so concerned with just messing around. I think having that whole advantage las month was more of a disadvantage than anything. When I last played FW, most of the Matari and Gallenteans weren't helping each other or didn't help until someone was dead. It was all ass backwards. Now that Caldari and Amarr have taken over, people are scrambling to get their **** in order but t's too late. They didn't want to get into battle mode, they were still suck in boot camp mode or something. If I could command some of these Matari and Gallenteans, I swear there wouldn't be so much scrambling. I'm not the best but I have losses with squads but I have wins also. It's all organization not so much having all the skilled players. Idk who's training us but they did a horrible job in preparing us for the pressure.
Sorry... I think I ranted.
The rewards were kind of sucky too. :P I was hoping for some Matari Assault rewards.
I'd kill for a back and forth again, but this past week has gotten me in the mood to get ready. |

Due to the current trading restrictions on clone soldiers, the monetary value of the rewards wasn't important so much as the function. As it happens, few of us use scout suits/shotguns and many of use the top of the line Caldari assault dropsuits as well as the Ishukone-produced nanohive variants. |

The Caldari and Amarr Empires gave out better rewards for Mercs who chose to side with them.
Plus, the Gallante have stopped giving military aid to the Minmatar, as well, they have also suspended many of their military ventures. This is of course due to budget debates amongst bureaucrats in the Federation. So the Gallante have been unable to fund reconquests. |

The Factional Event greatly changed it. The first reason Amarr and Caldari suddenly advanced is the rewards. The 2nd perhaps less reason is the love of the race Amarr & Caldari are very popular races though I'd say Amarr is the most popular. And the 3rd reason is plain loyalty to they're race which is connected to the 2nd reason stated. But this contests to how much Mercs can be capable of in EVE, multiple highly controlled systems by 2 strong races/empires suddenly reversed & pushed back to like 1% away from being completely conquored by the other 2 opposing races in a matter of a few weeks is impressive. This is another reason i'm interested to see PC expand into more of New Eden |
