You have multiple teams each responsible for certain areas, such as Faction Warfare, the EVE link, and another team which simply does UI, database improvement, etc.
Each of these teams is working on a "on done" basis, as in, as soon as a feature gets completed, (and tested) it gets put into the next monthly patch.
Putting more people into a team does NOT improve the rate at which it is completed, and often may have the opposite effect. Many of the choices you listed are not worked on by the same team, so there's no way they could even offer that choice. (For example weapon balancing isn't the same team that works on the art / implementation of new assets)
A choice one could feasibly ask would be more along the lines of:
Do you want an Amarrian Map or a Caldari Map? Do you want to work on Amarr Scout or Caldari Scout?
In many cases however CCP is working on Feedback, such as reducing (or eliminating) the time spent on the Warbarge before matches, or them listening to player feedback in the Vehicle thread. That said, they also have to filter through clearly bad ideas, ideas that counteract the game's ideology, or conflicting ideas.
If player group A wants Tanks to have more HP, and Player group B wants Tanks to have less HP, then no matter what CCP does there will exist a group to claim "CCP doesn't listen to player feedback!"
And that is fine.. again, this isnt a "I know where this game should go" thread.
I have yet to see much polling of the customer base at as far as what they actually want this game to be. There have been plenty of people that have said "thats nice but not what we really need right now" when it comes to features that have been added.
Map Team
What would you like to see for the next map expansion of the game? - More surface structures - More terrain maps - More planet types
etc
The idea is to force the player base to choose what they want first. The dev team cannot work on everything at once so its about introducing the most effective releases as you possibly can. Also, the more the players feel that they are helping to direct the game, the better the chance is that they will be satisfied.
'If you build it, they will come' only works in movies.
As far as Players A vs. Players B. You will never please everyone. The idea of using surveys is to find a way to please the most amount of people. |
