Just a simple Soma
80GJ Scatter ADV Blaster
120mm Plates Voltaic Energized Plating IGL Polarized Heavy Repper Local Power Grid Expansion Unit
Nitrous Injector Wavelength Active Scanner.
Purpose- Circle the map and main objectives constantly cycling the scanner modules picking off or marking enemy Targets on your scanners.
Cycle the Nitrous Booster when passing enemy held emplacements, since you cannot take a punch like most well tanked Soma you're going to need to get in and out fast. Who says being quick is a bad thing......
Just tested it, my randoms were converging on all marked targets, I nailed two enemy tanks, and went 20/0.

Blues/squad do NOT see any targets painted by a vehicle scanner. Tested and Confirmed by CCP. Are you sure about that? One of my tactics is to park a LAV near an objective with the scanner running. Squad mates usually pick up on incoming reds. You just don't get inel assists. |

Handy but not worth having now that I know I cannot help my team with it.
Scanning with an Active on foot is so much fun simply because I know I am directly aiding my squad with some intel..... that's just one less role a tank can fulfil now....
back to the drawing board for me I guess. |

Oh well if that's the case then I take them. I don't care about poits but knowing my team is more efficient because I scanned down half a dozen red dots in a lightly fit tank is awesome. |

We tested it, and neither squad-mates nor gunner were seeing the same mass of red-dots that the driver had on the radar. Also, asked Wolfman about it in IRC a while ago, who confirmed that intel from vehicle-scanners are not shared, but will be later on.
Note 1: the test specifically included not having infantry too close to the LAV, to avoid contaminating tests with what the infantry could see. 1 test also included a second LAV, where the driver also did not see the same targets.
Note 2: Looking at the market yesterday, all vehicle scanners showed a 45dB Scan Precision - all non-heavies with a profile dampener would be missed by vehicles, so do not rely 100% on it - carry a regular one as well.
Disclaimer: Not tested in 1.5, but looking to patch-notes, I see no reason to expect it has changed. Feel free to make dedicated tests, and report back.

I did it just yesterday. It worked. Was in a squad of two with a heavy, so no other scanners. |
