Meanwhile the HMGs in Dust try to represent Machine Guns back in the days of Doom....
-.-
So when will the HMGs get buffed by a century? I mean 2000 RPM in game? 3000 RPM in RL?
Did we step back or something?
Also, before you point me to the Burst, what's the overheat on that? Now what's the "overheat" on the M-134?
What's that? I can't hear you..... STILL FIRING.....
-.-

HMG's need a buff, but it's not as bad as people think.
First off, crouch. When you crouch, you will be amazed how much more accurate it will be.
I think they need a slight damage buff. Maybe 5%, maybe 8. |

I'd say it's more of a problem with the dispersion and range of the HMG - it does sufficiently dominate at close range, but the dispersion/range problems it has means that it has great trouble applying that damage effectively to anything more than a few metres away. |

Yes I love when heavies crouch... makes their fat head's stationary and even easier to hit. |

Perhaps make it so that HMG becomes more accurate faster?
Increase accuracy rate by 15% and damage by 7%. Thoughts? |

Using the HMG, I'm pretty sure that it's the dispersion that makes it so dumb... why?
Sometimes, aiming (ADS) at a close, stationary target, you get the kill almost instantly but, when the target is strafing, you barely do any damage.
ADS reduces dispersion and the target doesn't move, so finally you're really hitting with the HMG and... magic! The whole HP bar melts in a split second.
This is a proof that the HMG has the appropriated RPM and damage potential to kill people really quickly, but the dispersion is so terrible that sometimes you just tickle your enemies.
I would try reducing the dispersion sensibly and see the change. |

Replace the skill that reduces recoil with a reduction of dispersion by 5% per level.
Then give it AR range.
Leaving all else equal, it will be good again. |

+1 although I have many different fittings, I use a heavy/AR in many maps if it isn't a tight well covered area. |

StG 44 (WWII) AR effective range in real life: 300m. M4A1 AR effective range in real life: 500m.
MG 42 (WWII) HMG effective range in real life: 1000m. M134 Minigun/HMG effective range in real life: 1000m.
AR effective range in game: 62.5m. HMG effective range in game: 49m.
Of course, it doesn't really matter which one has a higher range in real life; all that matters is the balance of the game. It's still pretty funny though. |

There's a difference between wanting to lower the bullet dispersion by maybe 20% and making the gun's accuracy improve faster than actually improving the range. Improving the optimal range exponentially increases your DPS compared to the old range the further you get from the target. Instead of doing 50% you're doing 100% still, 25% is still 100%, etcetera. Lowering the dispersion would just increase the amount of bullets actually hitting targets 10, 20 meters outside of optimal range.
A 350m Scrambler would slaughter everything, everywhere. A lower dispersion HMG would actually be able to hit stuff with some frequency within its already desired effective range. It's not uncommon for me to be 50m away from a Heavy and have half of its bullets just plain miss. |

The MG34(WW2) Light machinegun was actually too accurate so the germans nerfed it. The MG1's that used it was so skilled with the machinegun they could lob single bullets over hills, and use the gun as a sniper rifle/mortar.
