My usual 'cheap' heavy fit is a Dren suit with boundless HMG and one complex damage mod. Looking at the numbers, I wonder if I'd be better off with an advanced suit with MH-82 and two complex damage mods. The two options have identical low mods, sidearms and nades plus very similar ISK cost, so it just comes down to whether its worth giving up the boundless to run a second mod.
The boundless gives me 4.8% extra damage compared to the MH-82, reduced heat and (I think) very slightly longer range. With the second damage mod I'm getting 8.6% extra damage (no effect on heat or range). I think the additional 3.8% damage the second mod gives me compared to the boundless might be worth a touch more heat and less range, but thought I'd see what other heavies thought. |

I run the sentitanal suit, so i don't have the option to run a second damage mod. But i love the boundless. I'd suggest just use the boundless and get proficiency 5 |

I personally use a dren suit with one complex mod and the MH-82 because it's like 26k.
If I use the adv basic suit to get two complex mods, the cost becomes almost 60k per suit. To me, the extra damage isn't worth it since I only use that suit for defensive tactics anyways. Meaning that I'd rather just use the suit to kill 5 guys and end up dying afterwards...so using a cheaper suit works better.
Using a prototype weapon on a std suit seems slightly odd to me though. If I was running a proto weapon I'd rather use a suit that I'm not going to die quickly in. As in, two complex damage mods and a proto weapon to really make the most of it.
As far as your main question, go for the adv basic with two damage mods and the MH-82. You will kill quicker within the range of your HMG, and you won't lose as much if you end up dying. |

meh damage mods are useless on a heavy unless it's the forge IMO. Work on proficiency and use those slots to keep you alive. |

as your answer for your question, i think it's better your fitting, a medium suit with double dmg mod is 40/50 k isk, not a real cheap one. |

Why would you use expensive gear on a "cheap fit"? Since a complex dmg mod is cheaper than the boundless, that would make more sense for a cheap fit. |

Maybe I've mislead people by saying my cheap fit. Obviously I would run the Dren suit with standard HMG if I was trying to be as cheap as possible. I just mean a fit for pubs rather than PC, i.e. one that offers a nice compromise between price and performance. Anyway, my question is in the title, you don't even need to think about ISK to answer it (though as it happens, the two fits cost virtually the same).
PS - I've had proficiency 5 for months and highly recommend it! |

in that case like I said just run the boundless and use the slots for something that keeps you alive longer. |
