It doesn't quite allow people to choose when to play as freely as we would like, and it also adds some unnecessary complexity when it comes to using active boosters. This is why we are working our way towards a rollover SP system: instead having your pool of bonus SP being reset according to a fixed weekly cycle, you will steadily accumulate bonus SP to a pool over time that you can then empty through fighting in battles. As a result, everyone should be able to better choose when to come in and claim the available SP. Moving to such a system would have the added benefit of allowing us to make active boosters to give out a constant value over time by having them influence the rate at which SP accumulates into the pool instead of just multiplying SP received at the end of each battle

They're implementing as many incentives to log in daily as they can manage. I think they've realised that rollover sp would spell the end of consistent player presence. |

I think I'd like the rollover to be a buffer... perhaps maxing out at 2 weeks of current total or something. You can tweak the numbers around -- but there is no need let people accumulate unlimited back pay. |

I'm not sure which way you're leaning with this point. I know I stop when I've capped. I probably wouldn't touch the game for weeks at a time if I knew I wasn't missing out on SP. Also think of the unpleasant changes that come with most patches. My scout MD fit was rendered unviable with 1.4. Thankfully I had other skills to see me through the transition, but others might just skip a patch or two.
I've called for a rolling cap alongside the earliest of us, but there's a real threat posed by it as far as CCP's priorities go. |

How many people stop playing because they're capped? i stop playing the match i cap in. why play for 500-1000 sp per match? game in its current state doesn't warrant playing for minimal sp and isk. |

I hit cap by Sat nites, sometimes by Sunday at the latest....
I play Sniper till cap....after that I will play as a Logi until I hit 1000wp in a match, then I switch to something like my Heavy or use a Mass Driver.....
unless I'm with my corp, then I play Logi unless asked to do something else....

I quit after the bonus cap. Move to an alt and ISK farm. I would stay if I got SP = WP after bonus SP is exhausted. That secondary cap is purely ridiculous. |

You can tweak the numbers around -- but there is no need let people accumulate unlimited back pay. They could address this with a decay system. Say you loose 10% per week of unused rollover cap. This would be fair to players keeping up the grind, but would give players with rollover cap incentive to put in some hours and keep the servers more populated. Rollover cap shouldn't apply to 2x SP events and such, of course. |

I do. When you see 759 SP for a round and you are 2 M from you next upgrade it is a wee depressing. |

This would be lovely for me, I get to play like two or three mornings a week and barely at weekends so I very rarely get to hit my cap. There are occasions however that I can play a lot, like last week when I'd capped out by Thursday morning and was playing for less than 1k a match sp all week long as I was on vacation and had nothing better to do than to dust all week with my new found dust-buddies on the Bannana boat chat channel!
A question for you guys and especially for you Flying Pig -
Do you play to exclusively gain SP or do you play because you enjoy the game?
It's not a loaded question and there's absolutely no sarcasm in my question but it does appear most of the vets here play solely to gain SP which seems, to me, rather counter-productive. I mean, you grind to get better stuff in a game that you "grind" constantly in... the very nature of grinding suggests you're not enjoying the process (unless you're grinding on someone, that can be fun).. so why do you want more SP ergo a better playing experience and better stuff? Are you addicted to SP?
I personally love the game and thoroughly enjoy almost every match, win or lose, except for the recent spurts of matches that I've been thrown into without any opposition. |

At some point it just gets boring playing the same suit with the same weapons game after game...
With 2.5 million SP requried to roll into a new suit.. it makes it difficult to 'play for fun' you just get burned out. Still though... you want that new suit so you can have fun again, and afk farming each week so you have have that new suit in 5 weeks instead of taking a break and getting it in 3 months is an attractive option.
SP Rollover system? I can now take a break for 3-4 weeks, and then play again feeling a little less burned out, I can grind that bonus pool away and then get that shiny new suit finally.
(why 2.5 million? Because lets be real.. once you have a proto suit why would you ever use a non-proto suit? That's just stupid) |

Fair question.
I currently play for the SP. I've been playing since the closed beta days, and all of the promises of future content mixed with the potential for this games future make me want to save SP for when we can actually fight on a lava planet with 32 player teams fighting to take control of a 5km x 5km area, assisted with a plethora of vehicle support, while making a significant impact in the universe of New Eden.
The game, as it stands right now, isn't terribly fun. The future vision for this game, however, is completely badass. The vets are worn down and tired of the lobby shooter, but we hold out hope that the vision these devs have for the game is eventually realized. We just want the SP to fully take advantage of all the new toys. |
