1: That's a laser coming out of it
2: It's not and might be Winmatar based on designs, and that's the sun in the background
Otherwise, I'm assuming that's for taking down caps or supercaps, as that thing is ******* huge. |

I don't think so, if our dust experience is anything where a man weilding a small battery and can carry a large gun, can out damage a tank with a colossal gun and probably reactor on board.

Besides, it doesn't look like that at all - mostly because it's pointed the wrong way i.e. not up.

I actually think it is the means to launch jets.
The jets may be suspended by magnetism and then "launched" the way a round would be launched from a rail gun. This would eliminate the need for runways and falls in line with the whole New Eden lore even if VTOL would be simpler (think dropships).

Not its alloys according to lore-master CCP Falcon (and IIRC it's oxygen that makes trit go boom, not being at room temp).
Regardless no way it's shipyard - first of all it's not big enough (EVE ships are BIG). Secondly, EVE ships don't do so good in atmosphere, something to do with being less aerodynamic than a flying shed. |

Considering how far in the future EVE / Dust is taking place, I wouldn't be surprised if it could harness the heat of the planet. Thereby making it very, very powerful. Maybe like a lesser scale Deathstar in a predictable orbit. |

Also the attributes of Tritanium that I pointed out, since Tritanium alone is used at multiple points in most ships, not just alloys of it. |
