Wouldn't that overlap too much with the HMG?
While every race should get an AI and AV heavy weapon, I think it would be best if Heavies got something like these first to fill out their capabilities:
Amarr Heavy AV Weapon
Charge Laser - Short charge up time followed by a ~3-5 seconds large laser beam burst. Gives heavies an anti-shield AV weapon.
Gallente Heavy AI Weapon
Plasma Thrower - Full auto, medium-low-ish RoF weapon that lobs balls of plasma on an arcing path that individually have low damage but a good explosion radius. Gives heavies a support-ish weapon.

Easy, you can play with other values, for example, no magazines to energy weapons but instead overheating, less RoF or just a extra damage vs shield and less against armor.
I just think Dust should be in this like EvE, multiple weapons with same role, but depends of the faction who build it should had a little differences that makes that for its general purpouse (for example fight against infantry) be more or less efficent but correctly used against one kind of enemy, can be decisive, or just give you the "needed advantage" that makes worthwhile think both during and before the fight. |
