Yup because you have to think, you don't want them tapping into your armor.
Even if you have 5 shields left, that will decrease the shield regen time. Rather then depleting your shields and having to wait longer. |

Lvl 5 not worth the sp or isk for me, put a damage mod or regn booster
at least that is how I run. |

Eh they need to fix the HMG.
I rather roll my heavy with a duvolle. Hmg doesn't work on experienced players. |

Obviously make sure you have your core skills upgraded completely as well. Base Shield/Armor is 506/506 with both maxed. |

If it's worth it for any suit, it's worth it for a heavy. But lvl5 can wait. |

If ever there was a reason to do lvl 5 in armor and/or shield, Heavy is it. On my medium frame, its only 10-12 for armor, 15-18 for shield(Caldari). But on heavies its more significant. It'll make over 500 base HP on each, that could mean the differnce between living and dying.
I did it, and don't regret it. A 1200+ HP Heavy with extra damage mods is what makes being a Heavy is all about.
Skilling into Character Upgrades is VERY important. It allows you to run cheaper suits, but also makes your Prototype suits true monsters. Electronics Engineering Shields Armor, all extremely important. |

Yes!
Shield Upgrades and Armor Upgrades are the 1st skills you should max out for a Heavy build. ASAP get Armor Plating 3 so you can use Enhanced plates. next work on Handheld Weapon Upgrades. You want this at 5 because the Comp. are the only ones worth running. Finally get HMG Proficience if you use the HMG ro FG Proficiency if you use the FG. Once this is complete, youcan begin rounding out your other skills like Biotics, Hacking, Profile skills, etc. |
