Nothing is wrong with being a fan of something, so your comment just made you come off as a simpleminded douche.

And as an anime lover myself - I think it's idioicy if you don't accept the fact otaku culture is looked down upon. Throw playing dust on it.
I like to call myself an otaku - but only online where people don't matter. Lol In reality I just enjoy certain anime.
