I love the SMG of Dust, and use one on every one of my fittings. Currently, I have Operation V, Proficiency IV, Sharpshooter V, Reload III, and Ammo Capacity III. However, I feel that there are a few slight issues that could be improved. The first is the Fitting Optimization (or whatever it is called) Skill. The 5% Reduction of PG per level is very small, equating a negligible difference, even at maximum skill. This could be remedied by either increasing the percentage per level, or making it affect both CPU and PGU, a change that would be applied across all applicable weapons (i.e. not the Plasma Cannon).
Another aspect of the SMG I would like to see improved is the reload speed. As of now, it is 3 seconds, equal to that of the Assault Rifle. In my opinion, sidearms should generally reload faster than main weapons. Therefore, I propose the the SMG reload time to be reduced 10% to 2.7 seconds base, and a corresponding reduction in Scrambler/Flaylock Pistol reload time, from the current 2.53 to 2.2 seconds.
A final thing I would like to see changed is the Breach Variant. In my opinion, it is a poor weapon. However, this feedback is from my personal inability to get kills with it. In the right hands, I feel that it is probably a good weapon, but I just can never do well with it. In addition, I rarely see them used or die to them, though they are fairly good at killing Scouts. Higher damage and/or a higher rate of fire would help to make it viable, or it could be completely reworked, i.e. removing it in lieu of a Burst Variant, with a crazy rate of fire in each burst but a measurable delay between bursts, less damage per round, smaller magazine, better range, and less recoil, for a more precise weapon. |

Thurak1 wrote:For burst weapons something with a fast ROF but low recoil doesnt make much sense unless you want to lower the caliber of the round which would lower the damage per round. Well, yes, the lower damage would be a part of it. Fast firing, lower damage, accurate, longer range, as I said originally... now that I think of it, the MagSec SMG might be a weapon along these lines. So I guess the Burst SMG idea should be put on hold for now. |

Also, I think that the Officer Variant could be made more interesting, though that only applies to the Cala's. I have no idea what the Balac's is like, as I don't think they are anywhere yet, though they are prizes for the Squad Cup. |

That -snip- is perfect. I agree that they are excellent weapons. More than anything, I would like the reload time decreased slightly. And if that proves to make SMG OP and needing of a nerf, they can change it back. But it is silly for them to reload at the same speed as an Assault Rifle in my opinion. |

It is the jack of all trades as far as a sidearm goes, but compare it to any other sidearm and wtf runs through my mind. As a Login I liked the idea of skilling into a sidearm as my main to save on cpu/pg, and the sub is the only true choice to be used for a sole weapon, but it takes getting to proto level until there is a slight cpu saving, for a massive dps loss. To be honest, I've never had a problem with the fittings, but it could be tweaked. Any change for the better is fine by me. |

Stay away from my Breach SMG! I was just reflecting personal failure. It actually seems to be a fine weapon in the right hands. |

lol, there is no reason and SMG needs a buff in any sense. DPS on it is ridiculous. After thinking about it a bit, they don't need really anything done to them. But I still feel that it would make sense for them to have a faster reload speed than they do currently. |
