Once a decision is made, it will be proclaimed in the box here, feel free to comment if you have questions or you think somebody is Godmodding
I've rped in a lot of places, ranging from Habbo hotel, chat sites meant for rping, to some small boutique forum where rping is just a tiny thread in the corner of the room amongst the dust mites. In all of these I've noticed a rule for combat rp.
What is combat rp? A sparring between two "toons" or, as I refer to them, chars and OCs. Your creation fights another basically, usually works best as 1v1, 1v2 is too much and only works in....nearly nowhere.
So how does this work? There are two popular forms of combat rp, T1 and T2. T1
- T1 is rp in a detailed, lengthy, and turn based. To do this you must
Have a clear detailed description of your character, from the boots on his feet, to the guns on his back and beyond Have a clear description of your scenery that both fighters can agree on, this has to be anything from time of day, nearby tables, ceiling level, light sources, water, etc..... You have to post the weapons, abilities, traits, etc. that your character has. All of them. This is the most important rule about any combat rp in terms of fairness and sportsmanship: YOU ARE ONLY NARRATING YOUR CHAR, you cannot dictate where the other person will be, only you can say where you will be, you can quote the other, but you can't state where he or she will be unless he or she has specified and you are to intercept
So, what happens if you forgot to post one of these things? |

- IMPORTANT RULE: Interrupts, Hypothetical, and Plans are all realistic. If you have a you're back faced away and your character doing something else, he or she cannot do both and has to either give up the chance to block/dodge/parry, or block/dodge/parry but in the process loose the opportunity to do what he or she was doing. Also, posture has an impact. If your back is turned and your opponent strikes, you cannon simply, "throws his hand behind him and blocks the punch without looking" no....this isn't your souped up martial arts movie with Jet Lee. Finally, this has the same with attacks, if you are attacking with a bar stool, slamming it downwards, you cannot hypothetical that if there was a dodge, you slam it to the side, it's kinda hard to do that when you're so fixed on slamming it downwards. You can afterwards say that you take a broken piece and slam it across in your next post.
Too be continued. What do you guys think so far? This'll be a REALLY long guideline, here's a source: http://www.scribd.com/doc/12603848/T1-Rules-and-guidelines

People here have varying levels of writing skills and RP competence. From what I gather post length would determine the victor in a battle, which would mean that people with poorer writing skills would always be undergunned, regardless of the actual abilities of his or her character.
And honestly, this is just way too complex for just a fight, and would usually end up in people writing pointless fluff about his character's grandmother to beef up his or her post and "win".
I would more rather suggest discussing the matter in private and determining who would be the victor in the battle when investigating the characters and their abilities. That way we don't have two pages of just a single fight. I do agree, god-modding and powergaming should still be prohibited.
Well, T1 can be that, but it's really using the environment to you're benefit and discovering your opponents weakness. Char A's weakness was brute force, Char B's was her lack of strength. But yeah, I get it, I just don't want people to start fighting and rping recklessly and godmodding themselves to a "jesus" status.
If we do it in private, it's not much of a fight! More of a vote.... we should really have some kind of structure, it could be a simpler T1, but I doubt we'll ever use T2 or "speed" fighting (You bash the keyboard, first one to get x amount of lines down on his her opponent kills, hurts, or damages etc...) |

No Meta-Gaming - In the RP community, this stands for using OUT OF CHARACTER knowledge as IN CHARACTER knowledge. ( Knowing OOCly that the Amarr are about to launch a secret raid a Minmatar Factory on X planet, and purposely moving your character out there when he or she, shouldn't know about the operation to begin with.)
Puppet Mastering - Controlling another Player's character during your post without explicit permission by the owner of the character. (Typically applies to NPCs as well, unless stated otherwise. But is a HUGE no when PC's are concerned.)
Oh yeah ....that too....
