Drone is equal to a MLT-STD
Drone follows nearest alive player
If no player is near drone stays stationery
Drone has respawn timer if a drone is destroyed
Only 3x drones per unit

They should have the equivalent of two Galente side arms and should target enemies which agress against the merc they are following. |

Drones should be an extension of a weapon and/or a piece of Equipment and have a command wheel similar to those of squad orders.
Ex: Defend == Drone follows a player or hovers around the defend order. Attack == sends Drone to combat Attack target. Rally == Drone hovers at selected Rally point.
Drones equipped with a weapons system can combat enemies, while a Drone with an equipment system could act as a mobile nanohive or active scanner, etc. |

I see - you want a capturable installation that is like a Turret, but is a "droneboat" instead.
Not only would this be a good way to begin to implement AI units into DUST, but it could be used to create drone "turret" options for current vehicles.
However, AI is extremely difficult to program - just look at how many games have crud AI - as well as being RAM-intensive for a game that currently cant spare resources for Small Turret Installations.
In short:
Drone Bay that replaces a turret slot/installation.
Installation a good gateway to test before implementing for vehicles and PvE.
We may have to wait for PS4, an engine upgrade, or both to get it in-game reliably. |

I understand that implementation of A.I could be a tricky thing to do in a game like this, but if they start small I'm sure they can do it, and if they ever want to go into PvP this is a good way to start.
The "droneboat" could be a very good stepping stone. |
