Do you use the EVE/Dust link in faction warfare? And if so, what are your thoughts on it? Here's mine and those of the pilots I work with,
- Dust players need a way to direct where we fight, or at the very least be able to focus our efforts. Our orbital support must travel in fleets for protection (as it should be, the US Navy wouldn't send a single battleship to bombard a coastline now would it?), and it is simply illogical for us and the fleet to be ping ponging across New Eden or for the Dust players to leave a battle and keep searching until one shows up where it makes sense.
- Have it actually list what type of strike your orbital support is using before you request it.
- EVE players would like to see what they are shooting.
- It is boring for EVE players to sit around for 20 minutes waiting for a request, perhaps make earning the OB something they do.
- Having the NPC warbarge strikes belittles the effort made by EVE players.
- It would be nice to have a simple and fast way to access a voice comms between squad leaders and EVE pilots in orbit, especially in order to reduce the often times huge delay between requesting the strike and receiving the strike.
- Dust players would like to be able to see the EVE ship in orbit. Even if it doesn't make sense to be able to see something like that from the ground, I'm sure it also doesn't make sense that there is a skybox with an extremely close planet that just so happens to be the same despite fighting on different planets.
- More types of actions since a strike isn't always the best thing to help turn the tide. For instance, the EMP strike, which many believe is useless, could be a lot better if say it simply wiped out all deployed equipment on the map regardless of radius or cover (and perhaps to balance this, have it not affect player shields?). Or perhaps a long distance remote repper/shield transporter that would require a lot to request and would only give a very small amount of boost to your team's MCC. Something to drop in a small extra amount of clones? Or what about a district-wide scan that revealed all enemy locations for a fair amount of time? Nuking it from orbit is not the only way to be sure!
