Currently I been playing Dust 514 for about 2 months now. I also play EVE, and was looking forward to what Dust514 had to offer to the EVE universe. Right now things to do in Dust514 to assist EVE is very limited, or not desirable enough for EVE players to care about.
What I would like to see:
1) Dust 514 Players being able to take over or neutralize Custom Offices.
Example in the future expansion of EVE Rubicon, EVE players will be able to take over these Offices in High sec and Low sec.
The idea for Dust 514 players to interact with EVE's universe is to allow Dust 514 players the ability to overthrow that EVE players ownership of that Office if they own the Planet it obits around. Now each office should have a set wave of PVE forces inside the station to fight for that player. Which that EVE player could upgrade the difficultly of those PVE Forces. This way It will take some organization from Dust 514 Corps to clear out and take over. Now what they do after they take over can be either Neutralizing it and holding it for ransom for EVE players to own, or destroy it.
2) Dust 514 players being able to affect moon mining.
In EVE moon mining is a huge income source for large scale corps and Alliances. If Dust 514 players could affect that moon by fighting on it. Say, Placing PVE forces to defeat on that moon which if defeated can give EVE players bonuses to mining. Or after taking ownership of the planet be able to contest the moon for resource bonuses, and Installing bases ( Dust 514 bases) onto those moons or planets to allow Deeper exploration of Moon mining for EVE players. this way Dust 514 players become valuable to hire in EVE.
3) Having Dust players Affect individual EVE players against the P.I. Structures.
P.I. in EVE is huge largely due to its passive income rate. Dust players should be allowed to affect this rate be it high sec or null sec or in between. What I mean by this is Have a Dust 514 corp or alliance take over Planets, which then they can attack individual EVE players P.I. Structures such as a extractor head and destroy it or Promote it giving it temporarily better mining yield / production . After that EVE players structure is taking over or destroyed they gain a temporarily Shield which last X amount of hours. after such that EVE player can be attacked again. This way Dust 514 players can truly affect the EVE universe, even if its 1 player at a time, but the EVE players are not affected to greatly. |

Well if that player is not online to hire those mercs or those mercs are not online, etc then how does it get defended. Yes, I would say allow the player to hire mercs to defend it but its always up in the air with some corps where a solid PVE + mercs backing it up would be more beneficial to the EVE player. |

To be honest, though, in a few years I'm going to feel so sorry for newbies to EVE Online, because not only will they have to take into account the death cliff that is the learning curve, but also understand at least the basics of DUST to fully comprehend the universe.
But you know, that's what makes it so damn awesome to play. It ain't a game with a set rulebook, and that just makes my nether regions tingle in secret delight.
So anyway, to counter this, perhaps when we're sabotaging/raiding/taking over these structures you mention, I'm guessing EVE players can destroy them? Maybe they can bombard the station and kill mercs.
Then mercs can deploy and board their ship.
Then a counterboard could be issued.
Then the ship may crash onto a planet after being blown up from inside.
Then a rescue and salvage mission may be deployed for the crew and valuable cargo.
But wait, MERC PIRATES in EVE PIRATE ships are on the way for the cargo!
Then a defense force for that rescue and salvage team is needed.
But there's another force coming to save the mercs who sabotaged the ship in the first place.
AND ALL THIS, all these events, can have CONTRACTS set on them, to recruit mercs to do that job.
ALL these contracts will cost ISK, making DUST the ISK sink that EVE sorely (according to reading, I don't actually play EVE) needs, AND DUST becomes so much more fun.
Well, I'm certainly looking forward to 2016.
To tell you the truth most new EVE players don't worry about P.I. And those that do don't really understand it long enough to keep it going. So this really only affects most Veteran EVE players. I agree though some balance needs to be put into play say hiring mercs assist in a counter that attack, with a PVE force which is of choice by the EVE player. But the purpose of these ideas is to affect those Veteran EVE players. Those who have tons of ISK. We need to affect there passive income to make them pay attention to EVE & place value on Dust 514 players more rather than resetting my P.I. operations for another 1 day cycle. |

Can you imagine the shouting matches between Eve and Dust players if there were PVE battles to determine ownership of POCOS? Eve players would complain all day about the AI being too easy, while noob dust players would complain about them being too hard. The last thing the game needs right now is more animosity between it's two components.
Sure they will. Because the PVE forces can't be upgrade or have different types of combat? You are the type of person that wants no change but to still complain about how unfair a game is. This is EVE and Dust 514 not a baby sitting game. Things are meant to be unfair that's how players get ahead of others, and how smarter players catch up. I do Agree there will be some imbalance, however is any game perfectly balanced? Is any PVE / PVP game Balanced to where no one complains? |
