The matchmaking can't take into account when a player will use better gear which substantially changes the players ability. Lets eliminate this and allow players to pick from two types. No restriction, or basic and below only. When in a basic battle any fittings with better gear are shown as an invalid fitting and is impossible to use |

Yes but they can't use proto. And this wouldn't eliminate the matchmaking. It would just define the biggest variable. Human choice |

I disagree because I feel that the matchmaking could keep you from being pub stomped, and I'm not trying to baby anyone. I'm simply trying to have more competitive matches. |

I think a better idea would be to place players into an Sp bracket that between 2.5 million sp and 5 million sp.
So you start off in battle academy and gain up to 2.5 million sp.
Tier 1 = 2.5 mill to 5 mill
Tier 2 = 5 mill to 7.5 mill.
Tier 3 = 7.5 mill to 10 mill
Tier 4 10 mill to 15 mill.
Tier 5 15 mill to 20 mill
Players would be allowed to play in tiers higher than their sp bracket if in a squad that has players in a higher bracket. However players with higher sp will not be able to join into the lower tier.
Sure its not a perfect model to use but its a step in the right direction.
I strongly feel that this is what this game is missing
No way I will go for this. It's the easiest way to never see vets again yeah but this would hurt new players that need help. It would put all the high sp players in the same place to befriend and rule. There are alot of negative aspects to this idea |

Melchiah ARANeAE wrote:I personally feel a matchmaking system based on WP per death would be the best idea. It wouldn't limit anyone's choice of suit, as a gear based matchmaking system would, and it wouldn't it penalise high SP characters that like to run many different roles and so have spent it in many different places, like an SP based matchmaking system. If a good player in all standard gear can fight competitively against a bad player in all proto gear, why not let them fight? My idea wouldn't stop a good player from playing against proto's in a basic suit. It would only stop proto suits from playing against people who don't wish to fight against them. This would only add a new game mode with no advanced or proto gear allowed. It wouldn't effect the current game modes at all |

High tier players would naturally gravitate to those high ISK matches, new players would be stomped out of the high tier matches and therefore move into lower tiered matches, pub stomps would only be an occasional thing. This may work but it still allows players to have the human decision to pub stomp which is the current problem. Sure pub stomps SHOULD be lessened by this but some people play in proto for easy matches. Not to make ISK, making these players target ranked 1 matches. So while this may lessen new players being pub stomped it will in no way make the proto players stop hazing the newberries. |

No one stopped Snuffbox blowing up my ship in EVE (damn you Bethany Valvetino), no one stopped those DPS fleets jump me as I was bashing the POS in a worm hole. No one stopped pirates from hot dropping me out in Molden Heath. PvP pilots in eve are always stomping smaller and weaker targets. High sec |

Yes, but mega suits with hundreds more HP then standard suits would be left out. The skills will do as skills do. They will give the gets a bonus, but the skills alone don't make vets the "OP Class". The gear is the major issue, the skills give an appreciable, but not unbalancing bonus. exactly |

Zeylon Rho wrote:I'd prefer "gear-based" to SP-based.
Gear-based would be 100% effective, 100% of the time. Only STD/MLT in the low tier. Brilliant.
Of course vets would still get passive skills, but that's their "reward" for being vets. In the low-tier they can leverage their passives but not their assets. They'd still be more lethal, but it wouldn't even be close to the pub-stomp that is Newbiew + MLT gear vs. Vet + PRO gear.
You can have matchmaking within the gear tiers if you want, but the tiers simply existing would be huge by itself. The matchmaking as-is does jack-squat. Exactly. And FYI the ONLY reason I added standard gear is it isn't exactly "better" and you can't use a logi suit or half the weapons in a militia only battle. |
