For the past few years I have dreaded this moment. I heard tales of this trial, and what I'd have to do, the decision that would weigh down my shoulders...
This is the year when I have been assigned to complete a long term personal project. Everyone must think of something they would like to achieve or get done and they have about seven or eight months to do so. All the while chronicling their journey in a notebook. What is the task I have selected you may ask? Simple.
Write a fantasy novel!
Now, you may be asking yourself why I have called upon you. Because I need your help. I have decided that the story would take place in the fictional realm of Dustia. A prequel to our story, specifically a history of Thanatos and origins of Diyad. What will this grand tale be called?
Diyad Historia: Plight of the King
My hopes are for this thread to become a hub of out of character interactions, for I wish to include your characters as well as your ideas into this. Part of it would be a what-if scenario, one in which we all get a hold of the Eye. This plot device would have us explore Diyad's history and the mystery of Thanatos.
All I ask of you?
Make this a place to have out of character discussions. I WILL need information from you guys so as not to portray your characters wrong. I'd also be open to ideas for situations and even new characters.
THIS IS A HUGE UNDERTAKING, AND WITH YOU ALL BY MY SIDE, WE CAN CONQUER THIS VAST LITERARY FRONTIER TOGETHER!!!
SHALL YOU ACCEPT? |

Alixenus wrote:OOC: Yes, I'm not particularly clear on this novel-majig either, how far back in time are we talking here? and how long is it going to be? If we're doing the founding of Diyad I doubt any of our current characters (except for maybe a beta test of the Engineer or High school Sandromin) will even have been born yet. Either way, I'm going to have to shake out of my funk and contribute a whole lot more, especially since Thanatos (the character) has already stated that the Diyadians descended from Venezzians.
First I need to know from Sandromin how long the Second Era actually lasted, since Diyad began in the Second Era. Since I'm dealing with Diyad's conception I need my Venezzian Explorers. So I'd need to know important Venezzian leaders, figures, celebrities and technology at that time. I'd imagine that the founder of Diyad had to be affiliated with important Venezzian peoples. |

Alixenus wrote:Okay, Dark age Venezzia. Hmmm. I'm thinking, no more water cannons, indoor plumbing, or large ships. Just Galleys, Triremes and Penteconters. Much less construction from Stone and Marble. Wood will be the prevailing material. It will be a small town, a back water, the entire thing fitting into what I called the Western district in my lore bombs, though none of the landmarks mentioned, save for the house of the broken lance and the port, exist. The land that Venezzia will cover is/was Swampy river Delta and forrest, dotted with a few noble compounds. Perhaps a farm and a Vineyard. I need to cook up some more noble families. Of course, House Vincenzo will make an appearance as they are old money. As to whether they will be as set in their ways as they are by Alixenus' time...not sure. Also, Thanatos, what was your overall idea of the founding of Diyad? Was this a deliberate migration or did a trading convoy get lost?
...aaaaaand I've realised a Ginormous plot hole with Venezzia. If the city became wealthy from trade, and the Republic only encountered the rest of you at the beginning of the first thread...who the frakk were we trading with?
...Well....oh...

Alixenus wrote:Frankly I quite like the sound of both ideas. +1 to this thread for plugging that plot hole so quickly and so neatly. Its not beyond the realms of possibility that 'modern' Venezzia would make war on Praecantaria as I've already said they have a thing for expansion and colonialism (sorry Logipriests, no hard feelings right?). Indeed, Alixenus did want to try to make contact with the Hydromancers as a deterrent against Nexhawk. As for this Venezzia...acutally, that could work. I've already that our Venezzia is far greater in size than any Medieval city had a right to be, there's no reason that olde Venezzia couldn't still be vast enough to attempt such a foolish enterprise. And we could just write in tiny islands here and there that have been colonised.
...Well...oh...

Sorry, it has been a while since I used this. I have a question particularly for Nexhawk, about the nature of The Eyes of Fate.
I was wondering, since it has the ability to reveal the past, and possible future, could it possibly affect the memories of others?
Edit: Also, just to note that this book primarily exists as a hypothetical situation in which the Eyes reveal the truth of Diyad. So I may toy with the concept since it doesn't directly affect our actual story.
