I'm sure you've been hit by a swarm launcher thinking "Where did that come from,". Well, I'm tired of getting hit by a steam of rockets that nearly kill me out of nowhere. I think that a lock-on indicator, or alarm would give people in vehicles a decent chance to not get destroyed by prototype swarm launchers from nowhere. |

Welcome to CCP/Shanghai's version of Graphics Optimization.
Sounds like you enjoy it as much as the rest of the consumers. The Devs love it though and have no idea what we are talking about.
And yes, we get several of these posts every week and have since Forge Guns, Swarms and the Great Draw Distance Cut Off occurred.
Don't hold your breath. |

I think lock on alarm is not a good idea because than vehicle camping will be so much easier. Instead I propose that it should be a incoming alarm. The alarm will go off at a certain distance of incoming attacks. With a module the alarm can be increase and even forge guns can be identified if they aim at you. |

there is this thing called crew. when they see swarms coming in they tell you how many missiles and where from. ds survives a few longer.
even if you did have lock on alarm what's that going to do for you. not allot because the missiles are still going to come in and if your out there your going to be locked almost all the time.
do you really want to know you are locked most of the fight. how many missiles that lock on actually never get anywhere near you. those ones you dont even know about and dont react to. if you are having alarms all the time you will never leave the redline. just because your locked doesnt mean someone is going to shoot missiles at you. |

You must not drive any vehicles. As it is now, after a certain distance the swarms will not render, and just out of no where explosion pop all over your tank. Then you need to close within 200 meters or more just to see the swarmer, or the trails.
Rendering needs to be fixed, but the devs have mention before they don't know what we are talking about because they can't duplicate our problems. (Whatever)
An alarm would be incredibly useful. I can eat some swarms, but when one volley hits you, you know more are on the way. When you are struck you get a directional indicator, which is handy in finding cover. But knowing that a swarmer is still hot on your tail would be handy.
Any good tanker won't just sit in the redline (unless of course their team is redlined). |

i was passenger in a ds the other day and was calling out swarmers on my side of the ds and the pilot was able to evade fairly easy. the guy on the other side was doing the same. i also was on the ground being stomped by a assault dropship the other day also and could see them doing the same thing. it took 2 proto swarmers and a forge gunner to take them out and it was not easy. took us 3 attempts. in the end 2 swarms put down the alpha damage and the forge killed them on the retreat. |

its all a big fat lie created by bad vehicle fitters. its never your fault instead its always 100% invisible swarms which are not invisible.
ok yes i agree there is a render issue meaning you can't see the missiles coming in sometimes but that doesn't stop your crew seeing them though...if you actually carry any.
there is a difference between your perceived 1 shot from a swarm insta killing a vehicle and 3 people attacking it simultaneously and all registering visually as 1 shot.it also doesn't help when the killmail says you got killed by a single swarm hit when infact there were multiple people hitting you at the same time and it was the swarm that hit you last got the mail.
we really need this https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=114087&find=unread so people can actually see whats really killing them |

I dont mind the idea of having a lock alarm for swarms this is the future after all. If planes in todays military have warnings for missile locks i see no reason why dust vehicles in general shouldnt have them. Except maybe lav's since they would have limited cpu resources and such. Maybe for the lav there could be an optional module to give said alarm. As far as a forge gun goes the best i would say would be to have something that warns of a forge gun charging in the general vicinity maybe out to 40 meters or so. Since it is a dumb fire weapon there is no way to know if it is pointing at you or not. So this alarm would be more annoying than useful. |
