You're... an *******. Just a straight up douche. Elitist gamer turd. Games are supposed to be fun. His idea, although flawed, is already a fully implemented idea in EVE Online. They're called Tech 3(or Tier 3, depending on who you're talking to) ships, and they're frickin awesome.
It's been a while, but from what I remember, the way it works is that you skill all the way into a certain line of ships (in DUST it will obviously be dropsuits- I'm not going to hold any hands. Draw your own parallels.) Once you've skilled into the appropriate ships and secondary/supporting skills, you can begin to skill into specialized skills that allow you to take special blue prints (acquired through various, extremely difficult tasks) and manufacture PARTS of a certain type of spaceship. Each blueprint allows certain numbers of a certain type of slots, dIfferent PG and CPU stats, etc., creating an EXTREMELY versatile but skill intensive ship that can be used to not only fill any role or niche, but is so highly specialized for one particular purpose that a player can actually create their OWN ROLE or job in the game.
A truly emergent and totally immersive experience.
If you don't think that this is coming to DUST, you're not only wrong, but you're playing the wrong game. CCP is all about giving players the tools to create their own opportunities, and shape their own universe. Too many people don't understand that. It's why I want to work for them when my degree is finished, once I get out of the Marine Corps. >=)
