I'm an Amarr Logi, advanced, and when this guy shot me with a GEK, I realized my armor went faster than my shields... I always thought ARs were hybrid weapons, now... not so much. |

I forget, but I think it's -10 to armour +10 to shields.
Maybe he had dmg mods. |

He could have started hitting you in the head with his automatic sniper rifle once he actually started tracking you.
Thats always a possibility.
Then again I always die the same speed against ARs no matter if I have 400 ehp or 900. |

ARs are the Armor penetrating Rifle.
SCRs deal more damage to Shields.
The AR should crunch through your armor faster than your shield. A GEK-38 w/ 1 complex mod (not including proficiency) will drop 400 Armor in 10 bullets, faster if some shots hit the head. The 200 shield is about 6-8 bullets. Basically, you're meat for any weapon on the field if you're caught off guard.
Its hard to do, but when you watch your health go down, the circle meter drops after the numbers. Look at the actual number of Armor you have, it'll hit zero and you're already dead, the graphic on the circle just didn't go with it. So it seems like you got dropped faster than you actually did. Factor in a little bit of lag, and yup, you're dead rather quickly.

Plasma weaponry (rifles) are -10 armor and +10 shields.
What you are thinking of is projectile weaponry i.e. SMGs and the 'soon' to be released combat rifle. Those will be for cutting armor. |
