As a father of one (with another on the way), I have been in this situation before. My son was born at 25 weeks and 2 days, roughly 4 months early. He weighed 1 lb 6 oz and was 12 inches long. He was helpless and as a father, I felt the same. It takes a toll on you emotionally, as your child's life, a life you feel obligated to protect at all costs, is not in your hands. I know exactly what he is experiencing all too well. I visited my son every morning, every lunch break and every night, sometimes sleeping there. I just wanted him to know I was there. He fought everyday and I was going to do the same. He is doing well, extremely intelligent and will be turning 6 in February. He is perfectly healthy and only has a small scar on his back from when he had heart surgery. Miracles do happen.
People, give whatever you can. Dollars and cents add up and you get to be a part of something bigger than yourself. Someone needs our help and our support and video games is a fanatstic avenue because you meet so many people doing so. Sacrifice buying that little bit of arum this week and give instead to a father who is probably scared and trying to make sense of it all while his child is feeling ill. It is the best thing that we as a collective community can do. |

Teared up already.
Everything that is happening to Weston happened to my son Landon. It's tough to re-picture that.

If I know VD and his STB brothers well enough, I am sure they wouldn't mind. Every little bit helps! |

Kingseeker Kobra wrote:Is this a joke? The baby needs to die, it's not going to have any quality of life if it survives the battery of medical problems it's had And the fact people are are stupid enough to actually give this guy money?
wow, just wow.
I will address this one time and one time only...
Everything, EVERY SINGLE THING that is happening to Quick's son happened to my son. When we heard that he was coming way too early (4 months early), after a few hours, the doctors asked us (and kept asking for a while) what we wanted to do. He gave us two options: deliver him and try everything to save his life OR deliver him and watch him take his last breaths while we say goodbye. They explained that IF we chose life and IF he lived past his hospital stay, that he would most likely have a lot of complications in life. I will admit, after hearing that, we both thought for a second that maybe we should just let him pass so he wouldn't suffer. It took her sister to come in and say"you will fight for him while he fights for himself and you will give that baby a chance at life".
Best decision we have ever or will ever make in our lives.
There were nights when he had it rough. There were nights that he had a new neighbor because the one the day before passed away. There was a specific night where we were asked to leave early because the baby next to him was about to pass away and his parents were there saying tjeir goodbyes. I remember that baby's dad sitting there, in a dark room, with his hands in his face crying. I thought to myself "that could be me at any day now".
But my son made it. It doesn't always happen, but he was the exception and I couldn't be happier. He has absolutely no dibilitating injuries. None. Not even allergies. He walks fine and he speaks fine. As a matter of fact, he started kindergarten one year early because of how smart he is. He has no physical deformities at all. He is perfect.
You say that he should just let his child die and I may be assuming wrongly, but I ASSUME either you have never been in that situation OR you have and are still angry about it. Whatever the reason, life is something to value and to fight for. I was in the military. I took that oath to protect life. I am a paramedic in real life and my fiance is an RN with her Bachelor's degree. We both what we do because we value life, now more than ever because it affected us directly.
I could go on a " you are trash, go die" rant, but instead, I pity you.
Why, you ask?
Because you most likely have never had anything worth fighting for in your life. It is inevitable, though. You will and I hope you do the right thing. I wouldn't wish this kind of stress or pain on anyone.
Miracles do happen and nothing that you can say, sir, will make me think otherwise. Have a great day.

And by the way, Kobra...what we do with OUR hard-earned money is OUR decision and doesn't need a "permission slip" from you on how, what and why it needs to be spent.

There are some links where you can donate on here, probably in the first couple of pages. If not, his STB brothers and VD7 will probably come in here shortly with links. |

You already have by showing it in this thread. A show of support isn't always monetary in origin. Sometimes, it's as simple as a "get well" sentiment. |
