I've went matches lately without seeing a single forge gun or hmg and no scouts. Is it because the ar is that good (all i see) or is it because assault and logi are the best pick. I just want to see diversity like back in closed beta. |

It is because they die too easily right now. Scouts especially are really not able to perform on the battle field in a competitive manner which is pretty discouraging. Heavies are still out there, particularly in PC with the heavy forge gunner is a staple of the battle. |

I don't know about you but I still see a handful of heavies in pub matches. As for scouts, we're just no longer able to speed tank and we have limited CPU/PG. |

Every time I see a heavy or a scout I just want to make a documentary about it in its natural habitat and how ar's are taking over their natural habit lol. |

This is what happens when you have a generalist game mechanic that overpowers other niche mechanics to the point of novelty... |

What's the use of a scout? Less HP, PG, CPU for just a little bit of extra speed. Stealth is less and less of an issue, as I notice that my scout gets scanned more often, turning him into a sitting duck. I assume this will get worse with the release of 1.5 and scanning will provide SP. Of course you can counter that with dampening mods, but then scouts have to sacrifice damage mods (what they need to do alpha damage), kincats (to run away), or droplinks/scanner (to be effective on the field)
Scouts need some love and at least a dampening bonus! |

The simple truth is that the heavy has a huge hit box, with two guns one is the forge gun which as you have seen, can hit long distances and close distances, the other is the HMG, which if a target is more then 30m away and then all your bullets are in general wasted. So you somehow have to sneak up on enemies with a huge lumbering box that has a huge hit box and little self protection that can be out gunned by an SMG close range. Yeah, the SMG in the current build is better at killing people up close then the HMG is most times. So a lot of heavies are now using other weapons then the HMG, a constant favorite is the AR, laser rifle, and other similar weapons.
For the scout...well right now they are just completely hurting, for a couple of reasons, the 1st reason is the aim assist is very good and the swerving back and forth to throw people's aim off does not work as well as it used to against any weapon that uses the aim assist effectively. The next reason is because of the mass driver and forge gun, gernades have always been an issue for scouts, one gernade pops their in the wrong place you got a dead scout. However, since the mass driver and forge gun came along, it is now two more AoE weapons that the scout has to worry about, especially the mass driver, that gun is the slayer of scouts. The advanced version of the mass driver does 200 direst damage and around 120 indirect damage, with around a 4.2m spread which is increased by 5% per rank. Meaning, not only can this gun one shot an advanced scout if it gets a direct hit (depends what mods you have on) but in 3-4 indirect hits it can kill nearly any scout.
The reasons why the scout are not doing well is not because it is a poor suit or has low health, the fact of the matter is it just has to low of a pg/cpu, which limits its options far to greatly. This is the same reason why the Logi can be the best assault suit in the game, the logi at proto type has easily the most number of high and low slots and actually very good combat abilities, with having a passive that regains up to 5 hp/sec for armor. I have seen several logis with higher shield and armor hit points then heavies have, combine this with the fact they are a medium suit and move at a good pace and can carry equipment means they are hugely deadly and effective on the battlefield.
This is why the heavy and scout suits are becoming much more rare or at least certain varations of them are. |

I ain't gonna lie. If we was given a respec right now I would be tempted to leave Scout and go Minmatar Logi with a Duvolle. Part of me would be sad though I would probably be a better "Scout". |

Ever listen to the gunfire throughout a match? AR, AR, AR, SR, AR, AR, SMG, AR, MD, AR, AR, SR, SR, MD. Occasionally, you'll get a few HMG, Shotgun Scout, and other niche weapons run by the determined, but AR is king, with the others mentioned able to compete.
Not saying that people can't succeed with them, but it usually takes the very talented or the very situational. AR is just very easy for the average player to run and do decently in most all situations with. |

It's actually rare for me to go into a match and NOT see a heavy. Not saying I see a lot per match but, for me, there is always at least one out of the 32 player roster (I admit this to still be low though). As for scouts.... yea. Sure I'm always running scout (if I got a respec I would not spend as much on sniping but 100% would still be in scouts) and sadly enough I don't get to duel my brethren all that much. TBH I actually hesitate when I see a scout on the opposing team due to the blinding light shining down on there perfectly flawed suits which are so thin that you could easily check there pulse just by looking at them... this has caused a few deaths but I always got my revenge....eventually.
`Sigh. Just another fun game of DUST. |

Scouts definitely need some love. I want to see them get the cloak ability people have been talking about, as well as get the melee issues fixed for their nova knives. The shotgun is an effective weapon too.
Scramble Rifles are also pretty effective, but a little on the rare side.
