So I've been wondering *about medium and large grenade types, but that's a different story* if you have a specialist suit, but no skills in it - do you get the bonus?
For example, I have a 'Dren' Sentinel suit, and as we know, sentinel's get a bonus to feedback damage (useful for FG+HMG's I know, or was it reload speed - sorry can't remember off the top of my head) per level, so if I have a Dren sentinel suit, which requires no skill to use, do I get any sort of sentinel bonus for using it?
Same thing applies to other skill free specialist suits - the 'Dren' assault for example, is clearly caldari assault, so does it get any bonus to shields without having any skills into that particular skill set?
Another example is the Neo assault Amarr suit - with no skills in Amarr Assault, do I get any bonus to laser weaponry heat build up and or armor repairs modules? (I might be getting the armor confused with the Amarr Logi)

That's a good question. I have tried to test thisbefore but I run Gallente Logistics and assault and as we all know the only free suits for those are Minmatar and Caldari
So I couldn't test it. |

The Suit bonuses are based on the suit skill, so if you have no suit skill, then you donGÇÖt get a bonus, even if your suit qualifies for the bonus.
Or to put it another way, with no skill, you get a bonus of 0%.

And I seem to recall that only suits with a prereq (Valor Scout, Raven Assault, Sever Logistics) actually receive a benefit from the relevant racial specialty suit skill. So technically a Raven Assault should perform better than a Dragonfly Assault if you are skilled into Caldari Assault. |

Somebody with Min Logi specced and a Dren suit could clear this up pretty easily...
