You can also cancel the last second or two of the forge gun reload by sprinting forward, but you still get the full reload. Minor, but amusing.
Assault Forge Gun OP though, not sure why you'd ever use any other. |

Since I never leave home without my LAV, the being frozen in spot is irrelevant. I can reposition, use the LAV as cover, and basically only die if I'm unlucky enough to get hit by another breach forge gun while driving

Yup, same for LAV's (smaller target), engines for Dropships.

Just yet another in a long list of reasons for never carrying a forge gun without an LAV nearby. What kind of weakness is low mobility and a charge up time when you can pop your reps, hop out, and have incredible pre positioned cover as you line up your shots?
If you use the BPO like me, you can usually use the LAV as a distraction for bad tankers, letting you toss an AV nade or get that first shot off before they see you and stop shooting your empty LAV. It's glorious really. |

I actually hate FGs that hold charge. I've been using the IA for so long, I actually do way worse with the Gastun's. Something about having to release the trigger. |

(Sorry to spoil the fun) And pilots, this is why we don't stabilize our flight pattern too often, always by rotating or twisting a little, dipping and rising, always try to mix it up and stay aware of your surroundings. The camera view makes it hard to watch for assault dropships, so listen for nearby missile explosions, or a missile impact.
But yea, this is why good gunners are actually a really ******* valuable commodity, because you can't usually just "park it" and hover there. New dropships might be able to for a little, but typically speaking that is death right there, so having a gunner that can compensate for the ships movements AND not shoot the ******* GOD DAMN MCC!!....yea...stupid blueberries, killed my train of thought.

Wow. Another one of these. Ok. So let me ask you a few questions.
1. How many incidents you've encountered against one or two strafing (dodging left and right) attackers within 60 feet or less that were advancing on you did you one hit kill them?
2. How many SP's have you invested on a Forge Gun fit alone? That includes heavy dropsuit and forge gun?
3. How long have you forged? Days? Weeks? Months? Not including gaps please. |

Ok. So what happens when you run out of ammo after your 17 shots? Cause last I checked, heavy's can't carry equipment unless it's a commando. So you'll either need....
1 -another clone to drop nanhives for you. 2 - your own dropship.
Because there's no other way you're gonna replenish your ammo after 17 shots. |

Misinformation. A miltia forge will not kill anything with splash... A prototype will not kill any prototype suit with 2 splash. Go play the game and bring a pen and paper...record what hit you and for how much damage...then compare apples to apples....prototype to prototype. I expect an edit for your hasty misinformation. |

So you're saying I can wipe out an entire team of 16 players with only 17 shots from a high tower? Yeah sure. I'll just ask the "entire opposing team" to please stand still for me while I OHK you. Lol. It's not as convenient as you think bud. It takes an average of two splash damage on standard fits. So that averages to about 8 possible kills from a full stock of ammo on just infantry.
And unless that tower has a ladder, you ain't gettin up there by yourself. A heavy can barely jump 1 foot off the ground let alone clear a 5 story building.
You make it sound like you can easily get massive kills by just "hiding on a tower" all by yourself. Sorry, but that's false. |

That is the same with a lot of weapons in DUST. The last 1/4 or so of the reload times seem to not actually matter. |
