I've never experienced Free to Play like this on a console game. It's like MMO put on PS3 in a way. Just wondering. I mean besides buying Aurum, which is their other currency by actual cash from what I've heard, it seems... how else? I just wonder is this really profitable in other ways for them or is this more like a really lucky charity giveaway to us all. I am playing a free to play (now) MMO and I see how they make money, but because people keep saying it doesn't matter if you buy Aurum cause there's no advantage, that makes me scratch my head on if people are giving as much cash as Eve would want/need to DUST 514.
Just asking. |

EVE makes money off subscriptions. I'm not sure if that's exactly what you're asking though. Are you asking if Dust is making money on its own? I don't know. Neither does anyone else, though I'm sure someone will be along shortly to inform you that it's a waste of money. |

EVE is an actual game that has a subscription.
DUST is a f2p loading screen mini game to keep you busy. |

I did come to realize EVE is a separate thing, but yes Arkena that answers is I guess. It sounds like they pretty much make enough money that they just gave us DUST as a gift. So that's nice of them. They may get money here and there, but it's a non issue in the major scheme of things. I think it's awesome of them to do that. I don't play EVE... may look into it. I'm enjoying DUST 514 right now. I just couldn't believe it was really free. I had bought three different free to play games on PSN and one had a free part, but then said buy the other two portions. The other is free to a degree day by day, but you get along faster with premium features. But this one is full on and free with no strings at all.
That just amazes me.
I'm happy, anyway. |

well, aurum doesn't mean much to the eve player. isk is what you can buy with real money in eve.
dust 514 is like a 'luxury' game for ccp. it's like a little side project just because they're the kind of badass company that can do that. |
