So unless the Veteran and Elite packs are lowered in price, I'm simply not able to justify buying one.
Anyone else in the same situation where they would definitely consider buying further Merc Packs in the future because two 20 dollar hits over a couple of months doesn't hurt as much as a 50 or 100 dollar hit all at once?
If so then let's make a list of people that would buy a 20 dollar pack and not anything more than that to try to give CCP an idea of their potential losses and potential gains should they lower the price of the remaining packs.
Please make any comments you like but start off your post with either of these -
- I have never and will never spend money on Dust 514.
- I would buy further 20 dollar packs but nothing more expensive.
- I'll buy 50 and 100 dollar packs.
Cheers and thanks for any help with this, I think this info could be useful for all of us and only end up giving us better options and choices for everyone. |

Planned on buying the $50 vet pack but waiting for a better/different deal. I want the LAV BPO but dont want the caldari suit since I'm mostly gallente and the sniper BPO is nice and all except sniping in this game sucks. Not fun, interesting, or effective unless you're one shotting a bunch of newberries.
No idea what they plan on doing with the merc pack, I doubt they're completely removing the cheapest pack option there is but changing it or updating it with something else. |

WHAT??? That's exactly what I said but I'm asking for opinions as to whether you'll purchase anything for 50 or 100 usd, you just paraphrased my complete post! Could you also please answer or comment on my original question so as to be helpful? Cheers |

Yeah me too, the LAV BPO is something very interesting and is what most attracts me to the $50 pack but the sniper is useless for me and would never use it and I simply can't justify spending $50 on a free game when I have other stuff to spend it on.

You should be sad about the impending death of this game. Not the merc pack.

This game's not even close to death, you're a troll and a moron... known in some geographical locations as a Trolloron... Now go stand in the sun for a while until you turn to stone... or at least contribute by answering my original question about the packs. |

Merc pack was a good deal for starters. I suggested that to every new player or noob who ever step foot in New Eden. 20 bucks for 40K Aurum and booster was a helluva combo. |

I bought a Merc Pack after swearing I would never spend money on a free game. I just enjoyed the damn thing so much that I caved. I don't regret it one bit. Got Aurum for my Sever suit and some passive boosters, a free Toxin SMG, free Dragonfly Scout, and a free 30 day active booster. For 20 bucks, it really was a good deal. That said, I have no plans on spending any more money on this game, I just don't see the point. The 50 and 100 dollar packs have some cool stuff, but it's mainly for those with lots of disposable income, and no better outlet to spend it on. There is nothing in these packs that I can't get in the game already via ISK.
On topic, I think the removal of the Merc Pack is a mistake. It's the sweet spot for price point, and it's the easiest pill to swallow. There are, and will be, plenty more Mercs like me that swear they're never gonna spend money on a free game. They will no longer have the temptation and easy entry into the world of Aurum, Boosters, and BPO's with the removal of the Merc Pack. |

It's hard to tell at the moment but from what I've read it looks as though they'll simply have the Elite and Vet packs. I'm really hoping they don't because I'd imagine that the merc pack is the real money maker for CCP, I'd love to see sales stats for each of the packs. |

It used to be completely gold but now it looks similar to a Logistics Saga with lighter tones. but yeah. It's a good deal. for what it's worth.

I'd buy additional $20 merc packs but probably not anything more expensive in the future.
I did buy the previous merc pack (twice) with the Dragonfly Scout suit (I'm a scout) and the Toxin SMG (an often used weapon for me). The current merc pack has an assault suit which I don't need, and another AR (I have the exile AR BPO already) and some consumables that I'm not really that interested in....
I did spring for the Veteran pack but I probably wouldn't do so again. It's nice to have a caldari medium frame suit for those rare times I'm not in a scout fit, and the BPO sniper rifle is useful, although I mainly use it on my Dragonfly scout.... and some of the consumables were nice, the shotgun, etc....
The BPO LAV is nice, although I only pull it out every 4-5 games.
I hope CCP brings back the $20 merc pack, but with more variety of BPO standard gear/weapons.... preferably they'd have multiple merc pack offerings on the market at one time.
My monthly average for money spent on Dust is $10..... in another month or two I'll probably be looking to drop another $20 for another BPO if it's useful (either a shotgun, Laser Rifle, Pistol, Minmitar standard scout suit.....)
I also think they should periodically re-issue old merc packs - someone may want some of the old BPO's in the future. |

Have not bought a pack in the last month or so, will probably wait until I feel that I want some good/different BPOs than the ones I have already. Aurum seems reasonably priced and has been a better deal than the Duplicate BPOs are. The death of the Merc Pack, I hope, signifies a change in our market from NPC driven to Player driven. In addition to removing Merc Packs they are also removing BPOs from the market. This seems to indicate that there will soon be an Eve market for Dust BPOs so that production can begin on Mercenary modules, suits, and vehicles and when that happens I expect we will see trading and a Player driven market become a reality. Get ready for fluctuating prices, crazy high and low prices and being able to trade items with other players. |
